What? CP signing 4 year/150mm contract this summer when he's 32 is way different than him signing a 5 year 207mm contract. How's he supposed to make back that $57mm when he's 36?
There is a benefit, but most of it comes from being 5 years versus 4. If CP3 is still playing well, he would have made most of that up.
However, given those numbers, he is likely to make about $45M in his last year, rather than the $35M I used above. Thus the difference over those five years between staying with the Clippers and going somewhere else is under $15M.
The difference is well under 50% of that $57M number.
