Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

To me it seems like worst case he comes back Dirkish, which is still excellent

That’s great and all but Nowitzki played at a significant discount for over ten years. Is Durant going to sign a contract for way less than market ?

Jimmer running summer league with the Warriors.

Can’t imagine there are many players older than him out there.

No. Dirk is the floor.

Strong rumors of Butler to the Heat.

Do you mean 32-year old Dirk who was giving Dallas a discount or 40-year old Dirk who was still playing for a reasonable price ? Because the Warriors are going to offer 32-year old Durant 5 years and $221 million and pay a bunch of luxury tax.

Durant can probably win another championship there after 2021 with aging Curry and aging Klay. But for the Knicks or Nets to give him the max at four years (of which he'll only realy play three) and $164 million.

Either way, Durant is 30+ and past his prime and likely to be less than he was when he returns from injury.

Less than he was is still a max player.

You want to be paying Durant $41 million when he's 36 years old ? That's only worth it to a team that is competing for a championship. Can't tell if Golden State will be there in two years, but very doubtful they'll be there in five. NYK and Brooklyn would be trying to build around Durant and maybe Kyrie. Small window with Durant sitting for the better part of his first season.

durant at 80% is still a top ten player. you pay the max for a top ten player. stop with the stupid argument.

32-year old 80% KD < 32-year old 100% Carmelo Anthony

Even notice when Biff makes a bad argument, he doubles down until he realizes nobody agrees with him? Then he’ll say or post something funny and leave it alone.

And Kyrie and DJ. I get it but it’s weird after your 23 year old PG and 20 year C have breakout seasons.

Good for them. Their rebuild in the last couple years has been strong. Russell is a super limited player, absolutely cannot defend. He’ll get paid regardless.

I think Kyrie and Durant just both want the chance to not be the most disliked guy on their own team

Shucks. Lebron is 34. What do you think he's going to look like at the end of his current max contract. And we're getting the supposed 100% 34-year old Lebron too. He's already slowed down enough that he can't carry the team anymore and is busy playing GM to give his current team a shot at the title. 30-something KD isn't any better than what you're seeing out of Lebron on a nightly basis. If you want to argue that's worth a max contract, that's fine, but Lebron just traded half his team for another max contract guy, fired his coach, and is looking at picking up another max contract guy to compete for a championship.

Aside from that, KD was never as good as Lebron, never came anywhere near winning as much on his own as Lebron did, and is coming off an injury that would retire any number of good to great players.
