Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

You think someone's giving Boogie Cousins a max deal for $140 million off a 10-15 game sample of 20 minutes per game?

Absolutely. Cousins is a monster. If he is able to rehab to 90% of what he was, someone will sign Jim for 5/140 or something similar.

With CP3 and Capela both getting an extension, the Rox are going to be way over the tax limit. Adding Ariza would probably cost em another $60 million.

New owner too, might be less willing to pay the luxury tax.

Other teams would've gotten involved had DeMarcus or his agent let it be known that Cousins was available for the mid-level exception. Cousins wanted to go to GSW after getting recruited by Draymond, Durant and Klay.

According to Windhorst and ESPN, Boogie personally called Bob Meyer to say he was available and then the GM called the players.

Sixers trade 2nd round picks for Wilson Chandler. Are they putting together a better offer for Kawhi?

I think Trae Young is now 9/36 from the field including 2/16 on threes/

So crazy.

Per reddit:

Kawhi's agency, Impact Sports, placed his uncle and mom on payroll for five years without the knowledge of his original agent. That agent is now removed and suing the agency for withholding his commission.

This was revealed in the court documents of a Miami case complaint and jury demand of the agent. Page 7 of 28

Brian Elfus had been the agent of Kawhi partnered to Frank Mitchell of Impact Sports. Elfus alleges an agreement between him and Frankell required the consultation of large expenses to be had between both parties but that was not done for Kawhi's family. This is among other suspicious expenses involving other clients like $340,000 paid to Will Barton for e.g. He alleges that Impact Sports also took the stance of saying that Kawhi had not passed on commission funds to Impact Sports so he was in turn not paid when in fact Kawhi had done so, hence his dispute with the company now and Kawhi's recent court appearance in Miami.

Impact Sports has struggled a bit but has stayed afloat due to cash injections from investors and loans from former NFL players. The most recent being Joseph Sutton, now Senior Managing Partner. He injected cash into the company through shell companies. This complicates the current court case a bit. Elfus essentially claims that Impact and the Suttons have collected the money from Kawhi but not paid him by claiming otherwise. Elfus is reported to have had a good relationship with the Spurs by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and that communication between the organization and Kawhi's camp deteriorated when he departed.

Trae Young 0-6 in first half again. I think that makes him 9-42 in 2.5 games.

His struggles (albeit small sample size) are the most predictable thing ever. Dude won't do diddly poo at the NBA level.

Didn't take Grayson Allen long to do a dirty play in the NBA. Trae Young ducked in and under Allen, who then bent back Young's arm and shoulder. Then, Young tried to get Allen off of him. Allen aimed and ducked his shoulder into Young's crotch.

If there is justice and karma, someone will beat the fuck out of Allen. If someone cheap shots and injures him, no tears, Allen will have long deserved it.

Good to see G-League rivalries blossoming during Summer League.

Young went 3-16 and Allen went 2-13.

Trae Young is now 12-52 from the floor including 3-24 from three.

If Allen makes an NBA team, I guarantee someone will put an elbow through his face at some point this year, maybe from his own team in practice.

He's a 1st Round pick. He's got a four year guaranteed contract. Allen will make a team.

I hope he tries that move on Patrick Beverly or Lance Stevenson or even Steven Adams.

Obviously he won't try it on someone bigger than him but little guys have big teammates. O/U on him losing his shit during a game? 20? 41?

It's unlikely he'll see much PT this year. Too bad, I'd love to see him get the shit kicked out of him.
