Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DeBoer made a mess of the defense when the didn’t give DB coach and big time recruiter Travaris Robinson the DC job after talking to him after the hire. Robinson took a Co-DC role at UGA, then came back and interviewed at Alabama two days later, but remains at Georgia. Caleb Downs, who is a stud rising sophomore safety, is possibly jumping into the portal and going to UGA with Robinson. Downs is from about 25 minutes outside of Athens and Kirby sought him out after the SECCG to say hello. Meanwhile DeBoer is trying to sell some of the best defensive players in the nation on some junk-ass PAC-12 (RIP) defensive coordinator.

5-star WR Ryan Williams recommitted from Alabama after DeBoer’s hire. He’s the highest ranked player in Alabama’s class and the highest ranked player not currently committed. Bama still on the radar though.

DeBoer is hiring Kane Wommack as DC. Wommack is currently the head coach at South Alabama and was DC at Indiana when Deboer was in Bloomington. Wommack was DC for IU's two best seasons in the last 25 years. He's a great hire imo.

Having said all that, the fact that the core of IU's staff from 4-5 years ago is now running the show at Alabama is insane and enormously depressing.

Robinson has apparently been the defensive play caller for Alabama, under Kevin Steele, since September, shortly after the Texas game. It turns out that after DeBoer didn't immediately offer the DC position with play calling duties to Robinson, he jumped to UGA on Friday. Robinson came back and interviewed with Alabama on Sunday and was offered the job with full DC responsibilities. He turned it down to be Co-DC at Georgia with Glenn Schumann.

Robinson coached under Will Muschamp at Auburn, Florida, and USC. Muschamp is taking a step back from Co-DC to be an analyst, so there's room on the staff for Robinson.

I see the beat writer for the Tuscaloosa News has joined the boards. Welcome!

is the TAMU AD that Ohio State just hired the one who gave Jimbo his ridiculous contract?

This is the most important stuff happening in college football. Would you rather talk about the roster Fran Brown is building at Syracuse ?

biff, how many Wake football assistant coaches can you name and can you give their experience levels

I just peeked and looks like Ruggiero has been here 10 years. Tabacca is the only one I've ever heard of.

Back to a coach we've heard of, trolling another coach we hear of this past year:

Brad Lambert doesn't ring a bell? He was an FBS HC in NC (I believe your current hometown) for multiple seasons.

Taulia, get on with your life. Congrats on being the B1g's all-time leading passer though.

Well now it looks like Downs is staying in Tuscaloosa. Confusing.
