Official Hoops Coaching Search Thread - Welcome Danny Manning!!!

The perception of our job is not good. There are plenty of reasons for that, notably [Redacted] and Wellman the past 4 years. The really blatant, public buzzout stuff made a bad situation worse and was counter-productive.

This is incorrect. Period.

Our job was perceived as the top opening.

The only people who got upset by blatant, public buzzout stuff were insecure asshats.

Or his father said, their fans are psychotic and you don't want to go there.

What happened here was child's play in comparison to what would've happened to a coach like Bz at a larger basketball-centric university.

If an incoming coach can't handle a fanbase that desires accountability, then I don't want that coach.

Why settle for Archie Miller when we can land a former NC State guard who's like 15 years older with boatloads more life experience.

You've got to wonder if what prospective coaches took away from Wellman's narrative is this:

In order to win at Wake you've got to be lucky (Duncan, Paul) or dirty (Dino era). If you run the program the way Wellman wants is run, there's no way you can win a championship or even get close.

All roads lead back to Wellman and Dino. Uggg

Actually, it was very productive. It helped get rid of [Redacted]. Anyone who watched that Wellman presser announcing the "resignation" saw that Ronnie didn't want to do it, like, at all.

blah blah blah. you know it all. a lot more than the rest of us who don't want to settle. Let's just assume you are correct and call Buzz back.

Explain the bolded portion of your statement. I am so tired of hearing this refrain from the wine and cheese crowd. There is absolutely no merit to the argument that public dissonance about the trainwreck that is/ was our basketball program made things any worse.

If our job is so great, why aren't people quitting their current job just for a chance at it?

Our current and former players have been all over Twitter essentially begging the lunatics to quit with billboards/ad campaign/Quad rolling. Respected media people like Jay Bilas have written about how wrong this all has been. I just can't believe that hasn't impacted the perception of our job amongst potential candidates.

Cuz every single word out of Jay Bilas' mouth has been perfectly reasonable. Blabber mouth couldn't even keep his tainted opinion of his colleague Dino from slipping out during a boring second half of an ACCT game; are we really supposed to care what he says about us?

With [Redacted] back for a fifth year, we would have no chance to win. Now we have a chance. That's productive.

A better way of saying this would be to say that our car is like a BMW 5 series that was in an accident. It's a good car, not a Ferrari, but still pretty nice - it just needs some work right now so of course it looks like shit.
