He was a self proclaimed Democrat ~33 years ago (presumably voted, but definitely gave donations) and is, 33 years later, completely unwelcome in the party. Either the party moved away from him, or he moved away from the party. The first is the path your desire, but either case is good. People with Trump's world view do not have a home in the Democratic party.

Eh, there are plenty of morally bankrupt corporate moguls in the Democratic Party, quite a few of them in congress. It’s a mistake to let politicians and powerful people create their own personas rather than defining them by their actions. The Trump we know now is basically a wrestling heel gimmick that was created 6-7 years ago by a absolutely terrible economic celebrity who was previously celebrated by our society. Trumps acceptance and glorification pre-2016 was the problem. America has plenty of super villians, but we don’t recognize them until they grab an interns ass or use a slur.

Only thing this very clever post and does is support the hypothesis that the party has moved away from harboring racists like Trump and the "grand cyclops" and undermine the hypothesis that Trump moved away from the party.
 
Are you saying trump's racism was pushed out of the democratic party and throughly embraced by the Republicans?

Gotta love how Republicans point to a man who would be 104 today if he didn't die 11 years ago as evidence that Democrats are just as racist as Republicans.

Even today using the Democratic senator from WV as an example of the whole party is ridiculous.

After 1964, some Democrats, including Byrd, got on board with civil rights. Those who didn't largely either retired or became Republicans.
