Round Robin Phase MVP: SF Justin McClain, Dearborn
As expected, McClain was far and away the best player in the round robin phase, and he absolutely lived up to being the #1 pick in the draft. Not only did he lead the phase in scoring (18.1 PPG), but he was also one of the best defensive players in the tournament, finishing third in BLK+STL (3.3, behind Walker Ayala and Jess McCrory). Lastly, he was remarkably efficient, with a shooting slash line of .559/.471/.795 and a solid AST/TO ratio of 2.3/1.9. McClain's efficiency went beyond shooting and ball-handling, though. Perhaps the most mind-blowing of his numbers is his PF/G mark of 1.6, second lowest among starters in the tournament. If he can do this many things well without getting into foul trouble against all-star recruits, just imagine what he'll be able to do against some of L7's lower tier teams.
Stat Line: 18.1 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.8 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 1.9 TO/G
Round Robin Phase MVP Runner-Up: PF Maurice Bucci, Philadelphia
If you want to know how Philadelphia made it through the round robin phase with a record of 11-1, look no further than Bucci. He's not the defender that McClain is, nor is he as good a rebounder as many other bigs in the class. He is, however, the tournament's best pure shooter, with slash marks of .547/.560/.813. This is the rare big man that is an absolute sniper, and he led the tournament in 3P%. He could stand to be a little more assertive with the ball, but once he decides to shoot, Bucci usually converts.
Stat Line: 17.9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.6 TO/G
