Police put 6 year old girl in handcuffs

They should have arrested the fucking parents for raising such a miserable little brat.

Not true. Manifest's parents were pussies when it came to punishing their children. That's why they both grew up to be assholes.

Well they did give them porn names to live with in their lives.

Facepalm. They should have tied up her feet too and tossed her in the back of the cruiser. This girl is going to grow up to be a gem, let me tell you.

I can only imagine what she is like at home, or how her parents are. If she gets tossed out of school for the rest of the year at 6, she is going to be in the system by 9 or 10

I do hope they get a nice little bill from the school system for the shit the kid broke.

You fucking racist prick. I'm going to pull a Spike Lee and send out your home address (or one that could be yours) on Twatter. Devil.

I really want to know what this principal was doing while a 6 year old was destroying his/her office. Like when the kid started to push over the shelf, it might be a good idea to use your superior adult strength to hold it up.

He was probably on the phone with the school system's legal team, weighing the options.

If you are you seriously wondering why an adult would be hesitant to wade into a 6 year old's temper tantrum please scroll back up to the top of the page and read the parents' quotes. My guess is that he didn't want to find himself as the focus of a community protest or as the guest on MSNBC debating Rev. Al.

When I was in elementary school (20 years ago), the school I attended was sued by a third-grader "injured" by a teacher restraining him while breaking up a fight.

Handcuffs was absolutely the way to go. They cannot physically restrain the child without someone jumping all over them.

I don't really see a problem with what they did. Are they supposed to just let her tear the place apart? If not, then without cuffs to restrain her they would physically have to manhandle her, which would probably end up being an even bigger deal.

exactly how I feel.

how is it weird they were more likely to get into some kind of trouble grabbing her and holding her down than to just cuff her and be done with it. This kind of tantrum is only a step away from grabbing the scissors of the desk and going after someone.

that says "werd"... as in.. he was agreeing with you.

oops my bad never thought of that icon as someone saying "word". Now I know.

This is the logic for (part of) "No Child Left Behind". There are two kids in my daughter's grade that each have an adult (paid for by the state) to sit beside them in class. Both of the kids are much bigger than the other kids in their grade. This has been going on for 3 years so far, starting in 2nd grade. The kids throw chairs, scissors, books etc. at the teacher, other kids, and principal. Get suspended for 5 days. One gets off the bus and tells the kids he is bringing a gun to school the next day and kill the other kids on the bus. Get suspended for 5 days. Come back and do it again and again until the other parents raise hell and a handler comes in. The teachers spend their own money to buy school supplies because they have no budget but NC can afford to pay for one on one babysitting for these kids.

I suppose No Child Left Behind serves some good purposes but the required treatment (or lack of ability to punish) is one of the biggest problem in the Public School System.

That is a scary post. Damn, what has society come to? I hate to be the old man, but back in the day if you acted remotely like the kids in these stories, there was an ass beating in your immediate future. I know this the hard way for far far less that what is contained in this thread.

leave it to a state fan to suggest that beating kids is the answer.
