Me Three

I'll be interested to take this new one when I get to a computer.

The three most conservative groups in the Pew list are 85%, 88%, and 90% non-Hispanic white and make up 29% of voters in a country that is 63% non-Hispanic white.

I've shifted very heavily on social issues (even more than I already was socially liberal) particularly on gun rights. I've also moved further left economically with regards to my views on welfare programs. I think the current GOP leadership has quickened my departure as they just kept saying dumb thing after dumb thing after dumb thing to the point that I was just researching everything they said to see if it was BS. Most of it was (is).

I can see this happening. My problem with democratic leadership is philosophical for the most part. My problem with republican leadership is common sense. It's why I am in the Christie bandwagon. Guy knows how to apply sound concepts to actually get things done instead of just running his mouth.

Based on your responses, YOU are a… Libertarian

Along with 9% of the public

Libertarians

9% of the public
What They Believe

Economically very conservative but moderate to liberal on social issues
Highly critical of government
Strongly pro-business
Accepting of homosexuality
Less religious than the average American
Moderate views about immigrants compared to other GOP-oriented groups

Who They Are

Strong Republican-orientation, though a majority identify as independents
Affluent: 39% have incomes of $75,000 or more
Two-thirds are male
85% are non-Hispanic whites
About seven-in-ten (71%) have attended college
About half as likely as the two strongest GOP groups to attend church weekly
56% use social networking sites
36% trade stocks

--------------------------------------------------

I found those questions worse than the other quiz to be honest. For instance. Once of the questions was 'you must be religious to be moral'. That is a terrible question. Of course you can have morals without religion. In fact some religions teach the wrong morality. I am a Bible beater so I am not sure what idiot would answer that on the religion side. I was almost completely split on about half the questions, so my results could have swung a wide arc. Anyway - congrats Skins...I am a closet Libertarian.

Welcome! Although I am sure you will be like most "Libertarians" and vote Republican.

I've always said that Libertarians are just Republicans with an inferiority complex. They want so desperately to be relevant.

What's amazing to me is that there is any conflict about finding national parks and the arts. We are the only industrialized country on the planet that would even consider asking questions.

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but for decades writers, poets, musicians, artists weren't taxed in Ireland. A member Irish Parliament said something to the effect of "James Joyce will be remembered and a part of Ireland long after every person in this body is dead and forgotten."

It's astonishing that the same people who still support subsidizing oil companies to the tune billions oppose the relative pennies we spend on the arts.

No, we aren't. Conservatism and small government isn't limited to the US. There are segments of the population in every country who don't want the government funding those things.

Just took the I Side With quiz and went through the nuanced answers as well. I think it is definitely the best questionnaire out there. Almost every question had an answer I thought was detailed and appropriate for my point of view rather than the ridiculous Yes/No requirement that others have.

Green Party 94%
Democrats 86%
Libertarians 67%
Socialist 66%
Republicans 6%

The only thing I agreed with Republicans on was some education issues.

Democrats 64%
Republicans 60%
Libertarians 57%
Green Party 53%
Socialists. 53%

Ha!

That last one had me

Green Party 77%
Libertarian 75%
Dem 74%
Pub 65%
Socialist 52%

I didn't like the questions and liked the results less.
