Preseason Practice Reports

Hedlund hasn't been great for his career, but he hasn't been bad. He hit a 52 yarder last year and had his confidence growing - so I thought. He was beginning to get more consistent.

From what I've heard and seen, Weaver was awful last year in practice. Hopefully this is a case of Weaver getting MUCH better rather than the other.

Clawson said he has improved tremendously since the spring. Said that the lineman were afraid of getting cinscussed from his kicks (low line drive kicks). But it seems like he had a leg (from the video).

Good to hear. And you're correct about the linemen. There was a stretch where all Weaver would do is kick it into the line protecting him.

I'm getting a little "nervous" too Hondo2... I don't have high expectations - but I still have high hopes of the possibility of getting to 6 wins and a bowl. Really need to start out 4-0. Almost all the players I talked to @ fanfest guaranteed me a 4-0 start and they seemed to sincerely believe that - but I guess all teams believe that when they're @ 0-0.

I can see 3-1, with a good chance to beat cuse and BC, a possibility @ state. I feel comfortable saying 4 wins, thinking 5 with a shot @ 6.

Or I'm just excited that football's about the start again.

Lol, we are not beating Utah State.

Statistically, the odds of us starting 4-0 are very low.

I think we'll probably win 4 this season, but am excited to see the new way of doing things and hopefully some enthusiasm on the sidelines. That was the most noticeable thing about Vandy when they visited in the midst of Franklin's turnaround.

I am looking for improved offensive execution, harder hitting on defense, special team that can prevent kick-off returns to inside the opposing teams own 35, and coaches that are fully engaged. Wins would be nice; but improvement in these areas might be more realistic.

I could listen to a Clawson press conference all day. Man, what a smart guy. His discussion of specialists was great.

Luke Thecock of the Raleigh News & Disturber has us at 2-10. I'll take the over.

I like the really low expectations this year, along with the new staff. I think our guys will play with a big chip on their shoulders to try to prove people wrong.
