Pro Life / Pro Choice Debate

If Roberts had any decency, he'd retire now.

He's got the title of Chief Justice, but he's no longer the most influential vote or voice on the court. That role has switched to one of his five GOP colleagues, probably Alito. And Roberts was bad enough anyway.

Thomas’ failure to recuse himself in a case that his wife was directly involved in is a clear ethical violation. He is an embarrassment to the profession and in any functional government would be removed.

Some people are saying he should be forcibly removed...that's not the way we're supposed to do things in America, but some people are saying it...

unfortunate that the leak tarnished the court's reputation

I went to a rally yesterday with 3000 people chanting “FUCK THE SUPREME COURT.” Probably because of the leak.

Don't worry. John Roberts is on the case. He's going to find the real leaker.

AOC says conservative justices should be impeached for lying to Congress

Did Robert's change his vote from the leaked draft? His legacy is in the toilet regardless.

No, his view was always that Roe should be chipped away until it had no meaning, while gaslighting the public saying Roe was not overturned.

So he voted to uphold Mississippi's bill without overturning Roe.

Which put him in the odd place of taking a position that was less grossly partisan, but more political.

The whole argument that Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barrett lied is so ridiculous to the point that I think less of someone for complaining about it.

First of all, you didn't know they were lying, you weren't paying attention. You're just telling on yourself if you harp on that. Second, this is an opinion in response to a case heard before the Court. All they have to do is say that the case made compelling arguments that caused them to reconsider Roe.

“When we say ‘Second Amendment remedies,’ we only mean for things we want.”

Sure…besides, I’m pretty sure they mostly gave cleverly evasive answers to fairly clunky straightforward sounding questions.

Sure, but Kavanaugh actually lied about his year book content and the Thomas recusal is worth looking into. Even Junebug said Kavanaugh disqualified himself with his confirmation testimony.

Dems could easily have written a bill that Manchin would have signed onto to codify Roe, but instead specifically added whatever would ensure a no from him, going so far as to get feedback to make sure he wouldn't vote for it. It got the Pubs on record voting against Roe and keeps the issue on the ballot for the midterms. The economy is fried, stocks are tanking, inflation exploding, Russia's committing to a long, exhausting war. At least this gives them something on top of Jan 6 to campaign on. And it still won't be enough, House and Senate will go red which will in turn basically lock up 2024. Gonna be a brutal run for a while.
