Roanoke VA Reporter & Cameraman Shot Dead on Live TV

Good luck finding a rattlesnake in NC or SC.

Yeah, not in the Piedmont, but like VA in the Western part of the state there are some. Fortunately, never seen 1. But did get chased by a moccasin on a golf course 1 time. We were like is that thing coming for us? And we hightailed it back to the cart and floored it back to the tee.

I assume you are saying my question was unproductive? I asked the question because Obama used this incident to bring up "common sense changes to gun control" and, as far as I know, he has never proposed a change that would have stopped this incident. So, why bring it up now?

After Sandy Hook it made sense to talk about banning assault rifles since that was what was used.
After a passion killing where someone goes out and buys a gun on short notice it makes sense to talk about waiting periods.
After someone with a long history of mental illness or violence obtains a gun and kills someone it makes sense to talk about background checks.
After a felon or someone with a long history of mental illness or violence buys a gun at a gun show and kills someone with it, it makes sense to talk about closing the gun show loophole.
I guess in this case it would only make sense to talk about a complete ban, or a complete ban on handguns, or setting up so many hoops to jump through as to make it an effective ban - because those are the only things that would have prevented this terrible incident. And I haven't really seen those types of changes seriously discussed.

Well stated. All that other stuff is understandable, if not predictable. The reaction to this is not. The obvious difference is that people can hop on their computer and actually watch video of the killings, and from multiple angles like it's a fucking video game or DVD with that feature. That tends to bring it home a bit more, but the reaction is quite disproportionate. In the end, this was just a disgruntled employee killing his former co-workers and that is all it was. Logically, it shouldn't rile people up the way it has, but this board is pretty much full of commies so there you have it. That gal getting her head lopped off in OKC didn't get a 16 page (and counting) thread, that's for sure. The difference? The killer wasn't using a gun (though he was killed by one), and the killing wasn't on video.

What's the right response, ELC? Should all of us commies on the board eat lead?

One of my ex-employees was bitten by a moccasin while fishing from the banks of the James river in Richmond. He said the worst part is that the damn thing wouldn't let go of his arm. He had to whack the snake and arm against a tree several times to get it off of him.

I would have died of fright before the venom got me.

I wouldn't particularly care if that happened, frankly. Meh.

The right response is perhaps not to be an emotional basketcase every time somebody gets shot. Scooter's post is accurate. Do tell what would've stopped this? What sort of "common sense" measure would've stopped this? Even a guy getting angry at work isn't enough to warrant some kind of mental health flag. Did this guy have other issues we don't yet know about?

I've said since the VT massacre that the mental health of these shooters should be a consideration in buying guns, but the practical realities of medical privacy and privacy laws in general pretty much make that something that isn't going to happen soon. I don't even know how you can overcome those concerns legally.

There is room in this world to realize that people just flip out sometimes and lose their shit and kill people, especially in a workplace environment when you are forced to interact with people and policies that you may butt heads with. This guy was more methodical, so I don't think he just flipped out, but I'm not so sure there was anything prior to today that would indicate he was emotionally unstable.

Seriously, wtf. You may need some help, man.

I don't really think a valid argument to "fewer guns and more regulations" is "people will still murder people if guns are banned." Sure they will, but it's harder, more personal, and generally seems across the world to be a factor in the homicide rate (whether or not guns are banned and to what degree).

Preach on, brother. The fucking pinko pussies on this board never cease to amaze. Yo, also when you get a chance, email me again that list of bookmarked web pages you made of those awesome porns where the slut is getting gagged with a giant cock and crying and throwing up and shit. Those are my favorites too.

have a good day

It was clearly racially motivated. Haven't seen anyone say otherwise now that we know what we know.

No the problem is that no one is talking about it. Just bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away, right? When something doesn't fit the narrative, it seems as though there's a lot of running for the hills. You don't see the hypocrisy there?

It shouldn't matter what color a victim or the perpetrator is. Racism is racism and 2 innocent people were murdered on live TV today by someone driven by racial hatred.

I mean if someone on these boards states they would not care if the majority of the boards were shot to death they probably should just be banned from the boards because whats the point.

Race is definitely an issue that should be discussed here. I don't think you'll find anyone who will disagree.

And yea, scary stuff from ELC.

I'm interested to know what proper emotional response to publicly posted murder on social media is.
