And Paul Ryan is a horrible example. Instead of working with Trump and Mitch to put his debt reduction plan into action, he grew the debt and quit. Republicans only call for “debt reduction” to stifle Democrats and derail government spending on the poor. When they get into power they rack up debt to favor the rich.
 
We are supposed to give credit for recognizing Russia as a threat? Nailed it!

No wonder debate champ seems so impressive.

If I recall correctly, the Romney/Ryan ticket didn't win either. Perhaps they also had some lessons they needed to learn, no?

Two of the closest elections FL has seen. Only one Dem besides the incumbent Nelson has won a FL statewide election since I moved here 16 years ago. And that was in 2018. That was the best election for Dems in two decades.

Why did those voters vote for the R's with no strengths? Billl Nelson, who lost, won Senate races in 2006 and 2012.

Because like you, they believe they're strengths. Well-to-do white men don't really think critically about other well-to-do white men who share their beliefs. The Paul Ryans of the world simply put a passable veneer on beliefs that go back to before the Civil War.

Knocking off a multi-term Senator is hardly a best election for any party.
