Role of the Media

i have an old friend who is a local traffic/lifestyle reporter. Regularly people yell "Fake news!" at her while she's on location at a traffic accident or doing a story or something. The fervor about media is ridiculous and it's led by people who believe literal fake news.

The whole term as it’s used today is basically the parroting of a man child shouting the cleverest rebuttal of “I know you are, but what am I?!!”

Yeah. That’s good stuff. “Rubes Fascinate Libruls Part 8”

It’s just the same as political correctness now. It means nothing because the right use them interchangeably with “things I disagree with”

Maybe not the best spot for this, but there was a very good "Ted Radio Hour" on NPR last week titled: "Can We Trust the Numbers?" It's the one from January 26th. It dives into how statistics are gathered, their objectivity and how they are used to make decisions.

With all the information coming out about Trump, to the point where paying off a porn star no longer registers, it got me wondering how history has handled major media advancements. Each time a technological advancement provided more people with more information (printing press, radio, television, and now the internet/social media), was it followed by a peak in hysteria? Perhaps a shift towards nationalism because of the fear-mongering? People who tend to read a little about topics are often frightened, while those who continue to learn look past the fear and towards solutions.

Gateway Pundit (the fetid internet cesspool of leftover conspiracy turd sandwiches that Trump's WH gave a press credential) is now going after the Parkland survivors (i.e. children)
*"survivers"

Meh -- Tapper does this via whataboutism and drudging up old irrelevant shit like he is doing right now with Farrakhan so he can get to be the guy who says "criticized by both side today, must be doing something right!" I see through his BS.

his brow-furrowing skills are unrivaled

Nope, Tucker has him beat #fakenews.

I forget who said it on here but Tucker always has the expression of someone who just saw a vagina for the first time.

Sinclair's new media-bashing promos rankle local anchors

But the staffers who shared the documents with CNN say the promos are inappropriate -- yet another corporate infringement on local journalism.

"At my station, everyone was uncomfortable doing it," a local anchor said. The person insisted on anonymity because they believed they would be fired for speaking out.

The instructions for producing and airing the localized versions went into great detail about how the promos "should look and sound," according to another document obtained by CNN.

"Talent should dress in jewel tones -- however they should not look political in their dress or attire," one of the documents says. "Avoid total red, blue and purples dresses and suits. Avoid totally red, blue and purple ties, the goal is to look apolitical, neutral, nonpartisan yet professional. Black or charcoal suits for men...females should wear yellow, gold, magenta, cyan, but avoid red, blue or purple."
