Sam Hartman

Gonna be sick in 2-3 years when we parade him in on the motorcycle. Best season of his life wasn't even with us. F em.

We don't know what will be his best season yet. Could be this year, could be 2021.
He set ACC career TD record while playing for Wake. He has an undergraduate degree from WFU.

I want Hartman to have success at ND (except one particular Saturday in November) and then at the pro level. Helps the narrative that Wake is a place that gets players farther than their HS rankings would predict.

Sam was here 5 years. ND was really the only school that made sense, otherwise I think he would tried the NFL or moved on. Don't see how that's a knock on Wake. It's a unique situation with new rules, at the premier position with a marketable player.

Did Wake even have any interest on trying to bring him back? Seemed like both sides were ready to move on. If anything, think that is a good sign for the maturity of our program, that we are not desperate to hang on to one player for our success.

There were past player situations with way sketchier prospects that left Wake early for worse reasons.

Or is furthers the narrative that players need to leave Wake to get exposure and have success in the NLF (i.e. Kenneth Walker)

Jamie Newman did great following that narrative.

Sam probably makes more money at ND than he would have trying the NFL. It’s that simple and everything else comes off as sour grapes

Sam did very well. Apparently, just as he was heading for ND, Florida made a big push for Sam, but ND ponied up to keep Sam. Guessing that on top of whatever Sam made initially, several other endorsements have found their way to Sam, given his and ND's early success. The Irish have a massive following, and Sam is on fire right now.

Of all of the college QBs that were considering the NFL draft after last season, would guess that only the NFL first round QBs are doing better than Sam. Kudos to him.

The one thing that is a bit of concern is that there are so many idiot copy-cats in sports that can see a program with dumb money thinking "well, we can't develop QBs, but WF sure can; Hartman killed it at ND; let's go after WF's QB this off-season." Hartman's situation was unique in that he had been at WF for five years; WF was already planning on transitioning to Griffis; so, Hartman essentially left with Clawson's blessing; going to be a war the next time programs start sniffing around a WF QB, but can see it happening.

Just checked out Sam’s instagram page. Partnered posts with UnderArmour, Beats, and Mizzen and Main.

He’s doing alright.
Was told there was a recent TV segment showing how Hartman had so much free sponsor stuff, he was giving it all away to teammates. His team nickname was Santa or something like that. Lol.
