Sam Hartman

How many coaches at the top right now regularly complain about “the modern football landscape”? Most I can think of offhand are possibly losing their edge, like coach. One thing that bothers me about DC, we need enthusiasm and not reluctance. A lot of our best players are choosing to finish their careers at other schools. Either find a way to keep them or embrace the new future and get aggressive in the portal.
Dabo does it regularly

Villain doesn’t describe it. But to present Hartman as if he were a ND one-of-their-own student athlete, and not a mercenary, is absurd. But they, and he, unfortunately, will pretend from now on that he’s a Notre Dame guy. He made a smart financial decision and seems to have become a heartthrob celebrity overnight, a byproduct no doubt of the national exposure associated with ND. You can’t argue with the soundness of Sam’s decision. Everyone would make the same one given the opportunity. Unfortunately, Wake is left with only the crumbs off that table.

You don’t think he’ll claim Wake in the future?

I would like to think he would, but his rise to national prominence came from his affiliation with Notre Dame and he seems to have embraced it. I guess it depends on just how far he goes, if he makes the NFL.

Maybe I’m an idiot but I think he still claims us. If he says ND on MNF, he’s dead to me, which I’m sure means a lot to him 😂

I think at the start of the season it looked like Sam's move to ND did quite a bit to increase his potential as a possible NFL QB, posting a 6 game start of 5-1 with only a 3 point loss at home to #6 OSU and going 93 of 145 (64.1%) for 1458 yds and 14 TDs with 0 INTs and 2 rushing scores even though they were more of a running team and not a true passing team. But I think he has ended this season in a way that kinda proves what kind of hot and cold QB he really is, going 3-2 with a line 87 of 142 (61.3%) for 1091 yds, 8 TDs and 7 INTs with 1 rushing score. His accuracy and ypg are basically the same, but TD numbers and TD/INT rate have gone down...it's not Mitch Griffis numbers, but it's still not sure-fire NFL QB numbers.

He went to a school that had a more pro style offense than Wake to prove that he could still produce at that level and was decent, but unspectacular. So he proved he can at least run that type of offense. IMO he moved from a ceiling of a 6th or 7th round pick with a UDFA floor to maybe a 2nd day ceiling and 3rd day floor. He'll sign on as either a mid-tier #2QB or #3QB depending on the team a-la John Wolford, and will either have a career at that level barring significant injuries to current/future NFL QB's that propel him to the Starter role in a Tom Brady type situation (of course not that he'll be Tom Brady ) or something like the aforementioned Wolford-type career.

Either that or he'll just fade away in a couple years after not making a team over a Bailey Zappe/CJ Beathard/Easton Stick and move on to be an analyst/ACCN tv guy OR the most popular Bachelor Contestant ever.

Overall, probably a good move to go to ND, both cash-wise and now the fact that the entire world knows he's the hottest QB ever and women will be throwing themselves at him due to the increased exposure that Notre Dame and their string of Nationally-Televised games gave him.

I'm almost positive Hartman will be a known commodity after his time at Notre Dame, either through the NFL, or some manner of getting his pretty face on television ASAP. Something that more than likely wouldn't have happened at Wake Forest.

Like Clawson said, WE were the longtime girlfriend of Sam, WE loved him truly, and WE were the ones that knew he was already the uber-hot cougar-baiting sex symbol he has become (save for that whole mullet deal, no idea what that was about). Going to Notre Dame made the rest of the world aware. Which you have to agree, was one of the main reasons he did it and why it was an understandable and good move for him.

Hartman also showed he could go somewhere new acclimate himself pretty quickly and become a beloved leader. Those are good traits for a NFL QB and he has a face and personality for media.

Don’t know if he’ll get drafted but he’ll certainly get a shot. He might be a good backup without enough time to get hot and cold.

There’s always a job for him on ACC Network

Maybe the panthers will trade up to draft him. They love wasting picks on QBs

ETA: it's a holiday. I'll save my stuff for another day.

Notre Dame chose to celebrate Sam and his time there.

That's Notre Dame's business, not ours. If anyone needs to criticize it, it damn sure shouldn't be us. We sound like a jilted spouse. Let someone else throw shade.

We irked off Tim Duncan like this 30 years ago. It cost us millions -- and a whole lot of recruits. What was the upside to these comments?
