Saudi World Golf Tour 2022/2023 Thread

His all-time RC record is 10-20-4. His 58 was epic but was for one day at a mid-tier PGA event to earn a whopping T5. If Jimmy can get hot over the next few weeks and earn his way in so be it, but under no circumstance should stiff-butt DL3 feel compelled to pick him.

Made the cut on the number and was one over prior to yesterday's round.

There's a kid on the Web.com Tour who's a member at my club named J.T. Poston that finished T2 this weekend--lost in a playoff to one of the Bryan brothers. He was already in position to get his Tour card based on his position on the money list, and there are only three events left, so he pretty much clinched it today. Pretty cool.

Wesley Bryan won for the third time this year and as a result moves directly to the PGA Tour this week.

With the battlefield promo, do they take a new 25 from the web? Or do they now take 24?

DL3 all but telegraphed that he's considering him with his comments about considering time off due to injury. I don't think he was talking about Koepka only missing a few weeks when he said that.

Captain's picks should be voted on by the players that are on the team. This top down nonsense is one of the reasons the Euros kick our asses. Selection should be a much more collaborative process.

Worked for Azinger in 2008.

Yes, racking up large total winnings over a year or two doesn't mean all that much when RC time rolls around.

Disagree, but the captain should ask the players and strongly consider their opinions.

You know Knox is a Euro, right?

I know he is a Scot, yes. Just saying I'd much rather have him without much, if any, RC experience on my team than Furyk with his awful RC history. If we just took the current top 12, I'd be fine with that, and that includes Fowler. Screw this older generation of Phil, Tiger, Furyk and Strick. On paper they should be better than their Euro counterparts, but they have sucked. And Furyk has sucked the worst. Our RC rookies the last time out (Walker, Spieth and Reed) were pretty much our best players. Go with the young guns.

Edited to add that that was 1 of the best hat tosses I've seen in golf history as well as a nice par putt on 18. You also gotta love Jerry Kelly. Couldn't quite tell what he said when Knox sunk that putt, but it sounded like typical Kelly aw shucks something, and he congratulated Knox afterwards. Kelly has been a fairly minor player over the years, but I've always rooted for him, and he has always seemed like a nice and funny guy. If I ever got to play with the pros, he and Goydos would be 2 of my 1st picks of guys to play with.

Fatrick may be an asshole, but he's our asshole. I have way more confidence in him than I do Phil and Tiger.

After Furyk loses a few more RC matches he should be positioned nicely to take his turn as captain. And the beat(ing) goes on.

I could make a pretty good case that Kuchar has been our biggest underperformer in recent cups. Furyk used to have an unreal singles record, something like 7-1-1 and he's lost 5 of his last singles I believe.

Fowler has got to do something in the Ryder Cup this year. For him to have a combined 1-6-5 record in the two cups is just really bad. And Jimmy Walker carried him to a few of those halves in 2014. With the exception of his insane finish in singles in 2010, he's been a non factor.

Here's the current top 50 in the standings:

The first 5 appear to be locks on points. After that I want ZJ, JB, Bubba, Reed and Fowler. I'm stumped on the final 2. I think Jason Dufner has a very solid record in team play, but he's putting soooo poorly.

I can't put my finger on it, but I'm just really sour on Snedeker making the team.

Still a lot of golf to be played with Olympics & FedEx Cup. On Saturday night, Berger had all but locked up a spot until he blew up yesterday. My guess is that someone unexpected plays their way on via the Playoffs, even if they are technically a "pick".

I agree. I think Charley Hoffman has a good track record on some of the remaining courses and expect him to jump up some spots.

Pick both Bubba and Reed and make them play together since no one likes them. Problem solved.

If based on current standings, Furyk would have to jump several players to get a pick. Hard to justify that based on his record. Haas hasn't really done much in the 1/2 Ryder Cups as I recall, but he did play well in the President's Cup. I"m guessing DL3 and dad are buds. Piercy played great until about a month ago and has done nothing since. No experience.
