Everyone should remember that the face of LIV is the guy who brushed off his epic Masters choke by responding that he had a lot of money and therefore it did not matter. This is exactly on brand for Norman.
I could see Pat Perez absolutely going. Older guys like him usually are looking towards the senior tour as a nice payday. He is 46 and his days of regular tour events are almost at an end. Guys like him are prime targets to cash in IMO. He has zero chance at any sort of other legacy in the game anymore.
There was a time many years ago I liked Greg Norman, but I'm ashamed I ever did considering what douche-bag he is and probably always has been.
I saw Pat back in February give a long and rambling interview about the LIV, and he was pretty darn clear that he had no intention of going there and that he was happy on the PGA tour. No one is surprised when folks like Norman, Phil and DeChambeau outright lie about their intentions. But Pat has always come across as a blunt and straight up guy. I'd be surprised if he were to lie about that.
Can't help but watch some of the early coverage and it's about what you'd expect. Every single phrase any of the announcers utter is then peppered with some kind of "this is amazing" or "incredibly exciting" or "redefining golf" or "first ever blah blah blah." It really is a lot like you'd picture Trump announcing an event at one of his clubs.
Some of my favorites so far: The fans have turned out in droves, all tickets are completely sold out, they are packed to the max on every hole and it is exactly like the Ryder Cup at its best (pan camera to show 11 people watching DJ). The course is in spectacular shape, best it's ever been, better than any tour event and most majors. Draft party was epic, players are so dedicated to their teams it's unbelievable, exciting, and changing golf as we know it. Virtually all the players have experienced being on the wrong side of a draw and think all tournaments should be shotgun starts from now on, that it's revolutionary.
There is also an incredible amount of slurping the players by all announcers - it has to be by design. Like if someone hits a short chip to 8 feet or just hits the green on a par 3 it's "OH WHAT A SHOT THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD SO EXCITING!!!"

Based on the stuff being circulated on twitter, prepare to be surprised.
I do think Perez is one of the most interesting guys on tour. Great interview/podcast guest and interacts with the fans and kids very well.

PGA Tour takes the anticipated step of suspending the 17 PGA Tour players that jumped to LIV: https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/34063037/pga-tour-suspends-all-players-taking-part-first-liv-golf-tournament
Bobby Jones thought the PGA Tour was immoral and unhonorable since they gave away prize money.
Just watched some of the coverage and it was fine. I, too, like the scoreboard on the left.
Agree that the whole LIV vs. PGA Tour feud feels a lot like wrestling in the 90s... I actually like that part of it. Will be fun when they ultimately play a tourney against each other and one of the PGA Tour players blindsides a teammate with a steel chair before revealing that he's made the switch to LIV mid-tourney.
