Steve Forbes credibility watch

[Redacted] "resigned" on the first Thursday of the tourney that year. Our staff obviously knew they were making a change at that point.

Pretty sure he was still coaching at Colorado when Wellman hired him.

I had a morning coffee deprived brain fart and misread when I typed that lol.

Yeah, no coach was gonna take us seriously in those circumstances even though we tried.

Again, the metrics system has helped Wake under Forbes, not hurt it. Our problem is we fail under the traditional criteria of beating good teams
The NCAA tournament results suggest that Wake Forest did reasonably well against good teams. Beating three of the Elite Eight teams is worth something. Throw in an exhibition win over Alabama for laughs and a fourth win against the Elite Eight.

Recognizing quality basketball teams can be difficult. The ACC (5 teams) and the Big East (3 teams) are the two conferences that felt slighted by the selection committee. The ACC is 11-2 in the tourney and has three teams in the Elite Eight. The Big East is 6-2 and has one Elite Eight team. A combined 17-4 record, half of the Elite Eight teams and 7 of the Sweet Sixteen teams. Maybe they are justified in feeling slighted. The results on the basketball court would suggest their complaints may have validity.

Who needs to learn how to walk and wave to the crowd at the same time without getting injured. :(

We sat by the tunnel to the locker room at the UGA game. To be fair to Sallis, there is a pretty decent incline from the court to the raised floor there. Wake really needs to fix it.

Too bad every season is an isolated event and there’s nothing to be learned from past results.

It wouldn’t be tough to develop a metric based on a team’s projected odds to advance in the tournament based on decades of data.

Thought he was going to be head coach at UNC-Chapel Hill by this year?

Need a big man coach to get more from the bigs, stronger and better rebounding. They take too many 3s.
Agree! Wouldn’t let Efton wander more than 10 feet from the hoop. Keep him going from low block to high block at most, stick his butt into somebody to get post position, then “want” the ball. And learn to pass back out to open man when double teamed.

FWIW, “insiders” at the time report [Redacted] was choice 1. Over the [Redacted] tenure, I came to believe that was true. But equally possible, was that Ronald missed on a target or two and fell on his “safe” choice, and so as to not undermine the worst coach in ACC history, he pumped out nonsense like [Redacted] was the top choice.
Plus he pumped out all that putting on shoes & socks the right way business. Seemed at the time he was pandering to all his big gray hair donors
