Steve Forbes

Somebody make Strick sit down before he reads this:
OMG. DOES THIS MEAN HE KNOWS HOW TO DO HALFTIME ADJUSTMENTS?

Seriously. I'm fucking loving this guy. He's who I thought we'd end up with even when certain posters called me crazy for thinking he was our "floor" in this search.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking exciting.

Wes Miller has spent a quarter of his life coaching there, so maybe it’s a destination job for him?
You took the words right out of my mouth.

At least until he and D.R. go cry over a bottle of chablis on the steps of Carmichael.

So who are these “PLAYERS” he called?

1) No one said Wes “really” wants this job in particular. He wants big jobs I’m sure. It was many of us that wanted him to have our job in particular because we want to see WF win.

2) If Forbes hangs it up in 10 years, I for one would prefer someone younger than what Wes will be at that age.

Again, I think Forbes is awesome. Of course I would have hired Miller but that doesn’t mean I don’t think Forbes will improve our program greatly. I bet he does. And I love the guy’s personality.

But, as for Miller, he just got listed as 2nd choice at age 37 for an ACC school that his father was previously a large donor and is an alum. This is the same school that would not let him walk on and so he instead did so at a rival school helping win big things. So, to be clear, it doesn’t take any insight to know any chance to heal up Miller and Wake Forest is definitely closed at this point.

For better or worse, the concept of Miller to Wake Forest is now permanently off the table.

It’s the Steve Forbes era at Wake Forest. If it’s ever not the Steve Forbes era, it will be John Curries show again and I bet Currie will make another good choice. But that will never be Miller now. Next topic here. Any future posts on Miller will be on Inside Carolina. Because he has nothing to do with Wake Forest.

We will hold you to it. I look forward to a Forbes/Miller postseason rematch in the 2-15 game of the tournament.

Hell yeah, Coach Forbes is gonna kick your ass then celebrate with some cheese fries and a buffalo chicken wrap from Putters

I personally had him more as downing a giant ass rib eye from Putters, but you can't go wrong with that as your first meal.

Per the conference call yesterday, he was contacting all current players, players who entered the portal, and commits/decommits.

“You’re not my real dad!”

I think my mine grip with them was the black shorts which ruined the black unis for me. Something about the gold outlined WF logo on the shorts that doesn't sit right with me. I know I was in the minority on this though as social media loved them

No, you're right dude. The shorts don't work because of that different WF. Just looks silly with the sans-serif block font on the shirts. Good idea muddled up.

I'm not opposed to the larger gold band on the shorts, but that should probably be matched more closely with the shirt band, too. Would be a super cool, tight uni, except we Wake'd it up.

That's my thing. If block lettering is apparently the thing now I guess whatever. I'm not a huge fan but atleast be consistent.

They look like something someone wears to work on "Team Colors Day". Just throw on whatever Wake stuff you have and go.

You are so excited that we got what you considered to be the worst possible option?

Anyone willing to do a list of the yearly records and Ken Pom rankings for the head coaches Forbes has worked with that displays their records with and without him on their staff?

I didn't consider Matta a possibility until later. But I always felt we'd end up with Forbes in the end.

Again.
My list was Beilien, Matta, Forbes. Then maybe we start looking at others. I was always Anti- Wes Miller.
I dunno what else you want, Buddy.
You were the one saying that we were "going to be disappointed" if Forbes was our floor in this search.
So, weird flex, but I guess you do you.

I still don't get all the Miller and DR hate that's been going on the last few days. I've disagreed plenty with DR before, mostly because of his affection for Duke. But he knows his hoops. And if you look at the job Miller has done over the last decade improving what was a terrible program, you have to concede he's done a great job. I'm really happy with our hiring Forbes. But it is possible to believe both that Forbes is a great hire and that Miller has done a great job at UNCG.

I didn't want Miller over those other three shogun lists for a few reasons, but if you win 100 games in four years it's not luck. He probs would have been good. I like our guy, though.

I think most people around here would agree that Miller has done a fantastic job at UNCG. Really impressive how he has built that program in his own image.

I won’t speak for others, and just share my perspective on DR given I’ve taken a bunch of shots at him over the past few weeks/months. The issue isn’t that he likes Wes Miller, it’s his “I’m smarter than the rest of you noobs” attitude that has worn thin. He has made himself an easy target due to his constant pandering about Miller, that he knows better than the rest, that Wake screwed up by not hiring Miller 10 years ago when he was an assistant at High Point, etc.

I get that about DR. But he does know hoops. So I try to sift the wheat from the chaff with his posts.

PLEASE, will everybody put to bed the erroneous story that Wes Miller was not given an opportunity to walk on at Wake. It was reported on this board in a published article that Prosser offered Miller the same opportunity at the same time as Roy. Miller rejected Skip and elected to go to Chapel Hell. Miller stated that he felt like UNC was a better fit at the time and also one of his close prep team members at the time, by the name of Rashard McCants, was going to UNC with him.
