Superbowl sex ring?

http://enditmovement.com is a great organization that has raised awareness for a few years and raises money for other charities working in sex trafficking and modern day slavery.

one nice thing about living in mexico is that they will not tolerate human trafficking in any form down here

Well, being trafficked around the country from sporting events to conventions, abused and beaten, filled with drugs to keep you submissive and dependent, and forced to have sex for the profit of your pimp isn't exactly safe, believe it or not. The non-profit went out, found women who had been brought to Charlotte to work as sex slaves against their will during the DNC, offered them a way out, and got them into a protected women's shelter where their pimps wouldn't be able to find them.

It's a pretty common practice at strip clubs as well. They'll hire a girl to be a waitress or bartender, introduce drugs into the situation and groom them to be drug dependent and dance to get access to drugs.

I'm not sure how legalizing prostitution and drugs would end sex trafficking. People still get hired for legal jobs and taken advantage of.

Same in the porn industry, even though it's legal. I have a friend in Nashville who works with women involved in porn that want to get out, but don't really have the option without help. The libertarian in me thinks we'll have a lot less issues with sex trafficking by legalizing prostitution, but I'm not naive enough to think it will completely go away. Hell, there's still plenty of illegal alcohol being produced, and/or illegal liquor houses operating out of homes in a post-Prohibition world. The sex trafficking of minors obviously won't be solved by legalized prostitution.

If there are legal jobs from various employers who are licensed and taxed, then that gives the workforce an option. If my boss is a dick then I go work for someone else who is a legitimate provider. I dont have to work for a shady pimp to make money. Being taken advantage of by getting low wages at McDonalds is a little different than working for a criminal who beats and rapes you.

There's a difference between ending sex trafficking and limiting sex trafficking. People still produce and sell alcohol illegally and will continue to do so, but it's much less violent and destructive than what occurred during Prohibition. Legalizing drugs would have largely the same effect, removing much of the power/money/corruption/violence that the illegal drug trade gives to cartels, gangs, and dealers. Legalizing prostitution would largely remove the underground nature of it, making it much harder for the current system of drugs, violence and slavery to exist.

That's true, but the idea is that it is removed from the subculture and therefore the shroud of secrecy is removed and can be better regulated

So I heard about the Sapp incident but I didn't put it together that he was in Phoenix for the superbowl. Apparently 600 dudes were busted and there were children involved to? WTF?

The really, really dumb thing regarding the Sapp story is that his arrest had nothing to do with any sex crime sting. Dude was up partying all night and ordered two hookers. The hookers were not police, all they were looking to do was make a holla dolla.

After they are done playing bang the old fat guy, they get into an argument over money. He refuses to pay and the altercation gets physical. He gets into a fight with both that spills out into the hall. Hotel security is called and they in turn call the police. All three are arrested.

Sapp is dumb as fuck. This is the same guy that was suspended before for getting arrested in a domestic dispute in 2010. He is already in financial trouble, he did NOT need to lose his NFL Network check.

What a sad moron. From wiki:

On April 7, 2012, the Associated Press reported that Sapp had filed for bankruptcy in an effort to discharge debt from failed businesses. In these Chapter 7 filings, he claimed to have lost his University of Miami championship rings and his Buccaneer Super Bowl ring.[24] The balance in his checking and savings accounts was said to be less than $1,000. He claimed no credit card debt and owns no automobiles, but owes National Car Rental $90,685 through his business, Nine-Nine LLC.[3] Court filings indicated Sapp's assets totaled $6.45 million against a debt of $6.7 million. His monthly income was reported as $115,861.[25]

On November 1, 2012, Sapp's 10,000-square-foot house in Windermere was auctioned off and sold for $2.9 million.[26][27]

Legalized prostitution has not been a deterrent to human trafficking in Indonesia at all, especially intra-country. Moreover, it has become a problem as an exporter of people.

Legalizing prostitution and drugs doesn't mean everyone who provides prostitutes and drugs would be doing so legally.

Racer and Thunderbolt are on point.

Yeah, just read a study to that effect. Interesting reasons presented for why that's the case...mostly that legalization increases demand substantially, for which the legal industry can't keep up. Definitely doesn't fit into what I would have expected.

Racer seems to be virtuous regarding this subject. Suspiciously so.

Chances are slim that the hookers actually earned much of anything. The idea that most prostitutes choose to be prostitutes and actually earn much/any money for their work is a myth. It's just not the reality of the industry.

I'm just saying its always the guys you least suspect like the dad on 7th heaven

Yep, even in legal brothels in the US, over 80% of the fee goes to someone other than the prostitute. In a lot of places, even the cab driver who takes someone to the brothel makes more than the girl.

I doubt many peep think hookers are making bank but sounds like we should defer to you, batwoman, and IamCaptainobvious as the experts
