The 2020-21 College Football Thread: Alabama Unleashes Bold Familiar Flavor on CFB !!

Yep. Looks like Air Force won 8 in a row to close out 2019 and is 1-0 this year.

9 in a row.

Good catch. AF has the longest FBS winning streak; TN has the longest winning streak among Power V schools. Notre Dame has also won 8 in a row if you want to count them as an Power V school now that they are in the ACC. FWIW, Willie Taggart and FAU have also won 8 in a row (7 under Kiffin; 1 under Taggart).

Of the teams currently playing games, Kansas is the Power V school with the longest losing streak at 7; Maryland and Arizona also have 7 game losing streaks heading into this year. Akron has a 16 game losing streak going back to last year, and IIRC, the MAC will be re-starting their season in the next few weeks.

Looks like duke has lost 9 out of their last 10. Cutcliffe has to be on his way out, yet they still pull in some decent recruits. Teenagers are dumb.

If this years uNC team is 8th, would last years Wake team be top 5?

Just laughable. Survived against an average at best BC team and move up 4 spots to number 8

Has there ever been a team that ascended into the top 10 that has accomplished less in their season?

UNC has played two games:

- Cuse at home
- At BC

UNC struggled with a depleted Cuse team that had a former fullback playing OG leading 10-6 heading into the 4th quarter, and then needed a stop on two point conversion to keep BC (the same team that need a late score to beat Texas State the week before) from tying in the game in the final minute. Sounds like VT may be getting several of their players back this week (they were missing 21 against Duke last week, including their QB Hooker). After VT, UNC does not play a ranked team until after Thanksgiving. UNC does finish their ACC schedule against ND and Miami.

BTW, so glaring how the ACC hosed WF with the current FB schedule, there are 5 ranked ACC teams (#1 Clemson, #5 ND, #7 Miami, #8 UNC and #18 VT).

Here's how many of those 5 that the ACC elected to schedule for each team:

BC: 3
Clemson: 3
Duke: 2
FSU: 4
GT: 3
L'ville: 3
Miami: 3
NC: 2
Notre Dame: 2
Pitt: 4
State: 2
Cuse: 3
VT: 3
UVA: 4
WF: 5

So, is it just sheer coincidence that the schools that were the most protected turned out to be the 4 NC schools + ND (who the ACC invited into the conference to share revenues including the BCS revenues)? And the one school that was hosed the most was WF?

This is the kind of thing that Ron Wellman would’ve accepted dutifully that I’m hoping John Currie makes more noise about and has more influence over in coming years. Being the ones getting screwed on the scheduling is predictable but needs to be a thing of the past.

I mean I get your point, but it would be 3 of the 4 NC schools + ND........

When people continue to ask, "Why would Grobe/Clawson ever want to leave Wake Forest ?" This is why.

No convenience store in NC is building a larger than life bobblehead of Dave Clawson because he beat the fourth or fifth best team in the ACC Coastal to get to 1-1 on the season.

Les Miles, who now coaches Kansas (perhaps the worst program in college football right now), has COVID.

That's not a bobble head. That is actually Lane Kiffin. The gas station pays him to stand there during the week. He only gets time off when he has to be at the game. Otherwise his assistants do all the work. It's a win-win.

But where did he get the small body suit? It’s obviously his head. But the body is too small.

It's the only statue Kiffin will have built related to his football contributions.

It's funny when you think about it that way.

Bobby Bowden gets that.

Lane Kiffen gets a goofy looking bobblehead at the local Exxon.

Seems about right.

VPI down 15+ players, including three starters, against u*NC today. Notre Dame postponed against Wake for what 8?
