This maybe Haas moment, Grobe is banging on Wake, what thread is this in?

Stanford isn't doing it with academic exceptions. They're doing it with massive amounts of money after capitalizing on Andrew Luck's support of the program.

How about Vandy? How many academic exceptions do they have?

What does writing checks have to do with academic exceptions?

Nothing. It's a non-sequitur that LOWFers keep throwing out that in no way is responsive to the actual question. Whether our AD receives X level of donations to upgrade locker rooms or practice facilities or white boards seems to have very little to do with a university admissions policy.

In any event, I too would like to know what Vandy or Northwestern does on this issue.

Vandy's private so they don't release numbers on athletic exceptions apparently. Most articles say "very few." And no juco's. Stanford has zero exceptions and no jucos.

This article has some good numbers on the public ACC programs.

What money means is not having discussions about paying a coach or building this facility or building that facility. All of it gets done. Also, Stanford funds with the full allotment of scholarships, pretty much every sport the NCAA has on the books. The general level of facilities for all these is top notch. Kids notice this and see it as a commitment to winning. And this started long before Andrew Luck set foot on campus.

I find it hard to believe that Vandy hasn't increased exceptions with its recent recruiting to compete in the SEC.

Stanford is its own beast. Great school in an incredible locale. Top athletic program with a budget that would make just about every top athletic public school blush.
