Agree with this. Grobe didn't look great when hired, but obviously he delivered several years above expectations. His last four years of criminally bad recruiting, coach retention, and on field performance dropped him from great to good IMO.

Baseball, guys. This thread is about baseball. Marshall today and then a Towson/Marshall double header tomorrow.

1961. That's the last time a NC team played in a major bowl game other than Wake in 2007. That made him a great hire if he did nothing else
 
Tough 6-5 win today over the Herd. Clutch 2 out hitting scored all of our runs. Have no clue who will pitch tomorrow. Maybe Fossas, Kelly, Johnstone. 3rd weekend starter and midweek starter is a mystery right now. Go Deacs.
 
Swept a doubleheader today from Towson and Marshall. Kudos to the team for winning and just playing 2 games. It had to be miserable out there. UNCG on Tuesday and ACC opener on Fri. vs. VT. Go Deacs.

I think you ask most wake fans if jim grobe was a great hire and they will answer yes when they stop laughing at how silly of a question that is.
 
Grobe was a great hire. Irrational to contend otherwise.
 
Looks like a decent start vs UNCG. 6-0 Wake in the middle of the 4th inning.
 
Wake hung on to beat UNCG 11-7. Rough pitching from some of the guys in the middle innings (5 and 6). Gave up six runs in two innings.
 
For the few who are interested things are starting to shake out. Kevin Conway is playing himself into our everyday CF and leadoff hitter. Joey R. Has been awful and so has Kevin Jordan. Both guys strike out an incredible number of times. Fairchild, Conway, Pryor is our best outfield. The freshman arms out of the pen have been pretty awful. Johnstone and Kelly are slowly regaining some of their form. Not sure why Walter pulled Johnstone after only 3. We have screwed up enough of these midweek games over the years you think he would learn. Craig can rake and Mondou and Breazeale have been good.
 
Wake has won 5 straight and hosts VT this weekend. First game is Friday night at 6 PM. Would be nice to get a solid crowd.
 
Farish and Sellers were on the mound when most of the damage happened. Farish did not record an out, but gave up 3 earned runs.

Considering it's going to be about 35 degrees, I don't think that will happen
