Wake Baseball 2021 | Cusick (1st) + Fleming, Seymour, Menendez, Muntz Drafted

Still nice to beat State but doesn’t change what needs to be done at the year.

I can understand trying to save 3 outs from adler with a 6 run lead. It would make more sense if we tried to use him in every conceivable situation that we could. Its just constantly changing pitchers with a shaky staff. There should be very limited circumstances where you're gonna pull a pitcher after an out in college baseball and Walter does it all the time

It is very likely the main reason for 1/2 of our losses.

It is obvious by now that Walter has a predetermined list of pitchers he's going to put in a game. Today the difference was when he put in Adler, yanked him when he was pitching fine, but sends him to left field. After three more relievers come in and give up runs, he brings Adler back to the mound and he closes out the game and gets the third out and W.

That is just strangely weird to me. It's like you took him out of pitching but kept him in the game knowing that taking him out from pitching was probably not going to be the wisest move.

He did what ? Why not just let the kid close the whole inning like wtf is he thinking. Probably the bullshit lefty righty matchups he loves to play on both sides of ball. It’s laughable he thinks it’s big league baseball and he’s got some lefty specialist coming in outta the pen.

Also does Walter only talk to media after wins now…? Funny how we get no comments following last weeks embarrassment. Today’s discussion limited to charity talk basically. No way they win tomorrow.

I don't agree with a lot of his moves but I understand this one. Adler was probably going to finish the game but then we scored 5 runs in the 8th. He shouldn't have needed to pitch the 9th and he could go again today. The issue is not having other relievers capable of holding a 6beun lead in the 9th inning.

Well we had one reliever who had loaded the bases and had gotten a second out via strikeout and instead of letting him try to finish the game he brings another reliever cold to try to get one out. His overmanaging and pitching changes usually makes things worse not better

And where the fuck is reed mascalo? Look at his game log. It is ridiculous that hes not getting any innings on the weekend unless Walter has decided weekday games are more important.

If I had to pick 5 pitchers on this team who I could depend on to get outs, he would be one of them

At the beginning of the year Walter was talking like Minacci and McGraw would be the 1-2 punch late in games. Either the freshman weren’t quite ready for ACC baseball or he grossly overestimated their talent. Both could have great careers at Wake and I hope they do but it seems as if Adler wasn’t much on his radar coming into the year. And I’m assuming Shane Smith has been shut down for the year? He was supposed to be back against VT. I’m also curious if Menendez would return to Wake next year to pitch or if he will pursue other opportunities.

who TF is calling the pitches, get up 2-0 in second inning and wake pitcher is throwing 2-0 curveballs to the number 8 hitter, shit show

right on cue, little league play by RF missing cutoff allows runner to take second.

Let's say we win out...finish 25-22 (14-18)

That still wouldn't get us in the ACCT without some serious help. What a total letdown of a season. Getting swept by Duke was the final nail in the coffin

They weren’t swept by Duke.

Duke plays VT, Louisville, and Clemson to close the season (not a favorable schedule). Wake is battling with Duke for the final spot in the ACCT. If they win today and find a way to squeak out two series wins against Virginia and Pitt at home (unlikely) then they have a good chance of getting in. Either way, you’re right, extremely disappointing season given the goal was hosting a regional lol.
