Whew. Just never easy.
Walter over-manages.

I can understand trying to save 3 outs from adler with a 6 run lead. It would make more sense if we tried to use him in every conceivable situation that we could. Its just constantly changing pitchers with a shaky staff. There should be very limited circumstances where you're gonna pull a pitcher after an out in college baseball and Walter does it all the time
It is obvious by now that Walter has a predetermined list of pitchers he's going to put in a game. Today the difference was when he put in Adler, yanked him when he was pitching fine, but sends him to left field. After three more relievers come in and give up runs, he brings Adler back to the mound and he closes out the game and gets the third out and W.
That is just strangely weird to me. It's like you took him out of pitching but kept him in the game knowing that taking him out from pitching was probably not going to be the wisest move.

Well we had one reliever who had loaded the bases and had gotten a second out via strikeout and instead of letting him try to finish the game he brings another reliever cold to try to get one out. His overmanaging and pitching changes usually makes things worse not betterI don't agree with a lot of his moves but I understand this one. Adler was probably going to finish the game but then we scored 5 runs in the 8th. He shouldn't have needed to pitch the 9th and he could go again today. The issue is not having other relievers capable of holding a 6beun lead in the 9th inning.
Let's say we win out...finish 25-22 (14-18)
That still wouldn't get us in the ACCT without some serious help. What a total letdown of a season. Getting swept by Duke was the final nail in the coffin
