Wake Baseball 2021 | Cusick (1st) + Fleming, Seymour, Menendez, Muntz Drafted

Deacs are 2-13 in their last 15 ACC games, and have yielded 137 runs during that time (more than one run yielded per inning)

the teams that have done this to WF have ACC records of:

16-16
12-17
15-16
15-13
15-17

so...we've completely folded over the last 5 series against a bunch of teams that combine for a losing overall ACC record (despite going 13-2 against WF)

...and in conference-only stats, WF is

14th of 14 in hitting
14th of 14 in pitching
14th of 14 in fielding

"It's fun to play Wake Forest."

Wonder if we’ll get a Walter postgame interview after the sweep…O’Neill will ask Walter some batting practice fastball question tho

Maybe he will talk about the biomechanical pitching lab thingy that is working so well.

that is impressive. we really should be a top baseball program.

Simple answer. We need more labs. More buildings. Solves everything.

Force Walter out and burn down the pitching Lab.

Rather than trying to mold robotic pitchers with zero intangibles or feel for the game... Make our official "lab" a sandlot in an abandoned field in Winston.

“I think these guys come here with the idea that they want to take this program to Omaha and they want to be the people that do it,” coach Tom Walter said. “It’s not something that we talk about more or less than other years.

“But you can feel it because they know.”

This doesn't have to be in either or situation. Assuming this tool is ineffective because this coaching staff couldn't properly utilise it is a mistake.

Friday nights post game press roundup highlighted the fact that Wake walked 4 times in the game. They mentioned getting no hit and losing 17-0, but the next paragraph was about the bases on balls. It made me chuckle this morning.

I think Walter has to go after this season, the outlook for this season was supposedly very good and it has been terrible and it's certainly not the first time this has happened. Nice guy, but he needs to go, Wake has invested too much into baseball to be this bad.

people keep saying we have talent, but how can you tell?

W-L, which is the bottom line, says WF has the least talent in the ACC. We will see what happens with the MLB draft, but according to projections, WF will have more guys drafted than many other ACC teams. That may prove that WF has talent, but having talented players is meaningless if the end result is a 7-22 ACC record.

We can talk W-L, draft projections, recruit rankings, etc...but what really matters is that Walter said we were talented enough to win this year. Which leaves two options: 1) we are talented, but he can't coach and manage, or 2) we aren't talented, which means he can't recognize talent. Either way, the expectations, and our utter failure to meet them, are on the coach.
