This is Pitt's last chance at a conference win this year. We're looking for our first road conference win. This one should be a barn burner. Wake is a 7-point favorite.

Interesting match-up of Wake Forest's inability to win on the road vs. Pittsburgh's winless ACC record. Something's gotta give!

Very real possibility that we come out flat in what is pretty much a meaningless game for the Deacs, but I am confident that we have enough talent and moxie to pull this one out.

For the sake of economy and to change things up, happy to add KP evaluation to this thread:

KP Report on the Pathetic Pittsburgh Panthers:

2017-8 Season: The Panthers are the #231 team in the country and are 8-20 overall (0-15 in the ACC); top 100 wins : ZERO (WF is #89). Not going to list all of their top 100 losses, but will note the following: in Pitt's 15 conference losses, only two have been less than 12 points: home to State (by 4) home to Cuse (by 5). In the Panther's last home game, they lost to BC by 23.

Offense: Pitt is #281 in the nation and DFL in the ACC on offense. They are last in the ACC in TO%, offensive rebounding %, 2nd to last in 2 PT and 3 PT% and effective FG%. 40% of their offense comes from 3s; so they shoot a lot from deep, but usually miss. The Panthers have no interior offense (they are DFL in the ACC and #332 in the nation in percentage of points on 2 point shots).

Defense: The Panthers are consistent as they are also DFL in the ACC on defense. Pitt is last in the ACC in giving up offensive rebounds, 2nd to last in effective FG% defense and 2 PT% defense, and 3rd to last in TO% and FTA per FGA. So, Pitt somehow does a terrible job at defending the paint, yet manages to foul a lot. Doral should have a monster game. Pitt's one strength in ACC play has been defending the 3 as they are 3rd in ACC games in 3 PT% defense; if 3 point defense is mostly luck as some contend, Pitt at 0-15 in conference has benefitted by ACC opponents missing a high percentage of 3point shots, yet they still manage to get blown out in conference games.

Roster: Pitt starts 3 or 4 freshman (none of whom were highly regarded). Against FSU in Pitt's last game, they started: 6-1 (Marcus Carr - frosh), 6-4 (Khameron Davis - frosh), 6-5 (Jared Wilson-Frame - junior JUCO), 6-5 (Parker Stewart frosh), 6-9 (Kene Chukwuka - soph - first year playing D-1); so, not a single Pitt starter played D-1 hoop last year. Pitt also will sometimes start 6-10 frosh Terrell Brown, and they will bring 6-2 Jon Milligan and 6-6 frosh Shamiel Stevenson off the bench. Wilson-Frame is the Panthers leading scorer; he takes a lot of 3 point shots (195 on the season; he has shot 9 or more 3s seven times in 15 ACC games), but he misses a lot shooting 30.8%. PG Marcus Carr is 30th in the nation in assist rate, and he can knock down FTs (84%). Freshman swingman Parker Stewart has been hot from 3 over his last 4 ACC games, going 13 for 24 from behind the arc over that stretch.

Breakdown: ACC teams have killed Pitt in the paint (Pitt's last 3 games: FSU shot 68% from 2 and went to the line 40 times; BC shot 54% from 2 and went to the line 17 times; L'ville shot 69% from 2 and went to the line 21 times. WF has got to attack the basket and get Doral the ball; the Panthers have no answer for the WF big man. On defense, WF needs to guard the 3 point shot as what little Pitt offense there is comes from hitting from deep. KP projects a 73-67 win. WF has lost all 7 ACC road games this year, and the Deacs' one road win was at #317 Charlotte (a team that has completely quit having lost 12 straight in a bad conference). Pitt is more like Charlotte than the other 7 teams WF has played on the road. Fully expect WF to find a way to keep Pitt in the game; in the end, WF should win, which would be Mannings 4th road win in 4 seasons as WF's head coach.

speaking of Pittsburgh and the basketball Deacs, remember when Jerome Bettis sat courtside, and Josh Howard went off against UNC, and the Deacs clinched at least a share of the regular season title?

good times

Not sure if I've ever cared less about a Wake Forest basketball game.

Ah, The Loser Bowl. Words cannot express my excitement ...

3-31 vs 0-14. Something's got to give people!
