Wake Forest Basketball Preseason Discussion Thread - Hudson and Watson Suspended

Ideal scenario, but do you think that is a likely outcome?

What other scenario is there really?

It's completely counterintuitive to lose another scholarship on a guy who will be 23 starting his RS-SR year. Guessing Danny told him he wasn't going to play a lot, offered him a scholarship for this year to finish his degree at Wake, and he can play somewhere else next year while getting a Masters Degree.

It's really a win-win for all parties involved.

That would be a total waste. We'd be doing him a huge service with no return for us.

sounds like andre's decision i guess so he can do what doofus is saying.

that is the only thing that begins approaching sense and we're still doing him a big favor

there's probably another shoe to drop somewhere, if manning intends to play him as a RS SR

With 2 new bigs this season, he really wasn't going to play that much this season anyways. So WF could help out a guy who has put in a lot of time and effort only to not see much playing time over his career so far. WF does benefit in terms of good will and there's little downside.

Redshirt this year to preserve his fourth year, then play as a grad transfer somewhere else next year.

God, I hope this is the case. The alternative makes no damn sense, Giles or not.

Makes sense.

So if that's the goal, our roster for the time being (until (1) Hudson and Rondale are reinstated and (2) CMM comes back from injury) is:

- Wilbekin
- Crawford
- Dinos
- McClinton
- Collins
- Moore
- Thomas

Don't think I missed anyone...

Still doesn't explain the scholarship situation.

Looks like he'll be the captain of the scout team then.

Perhaps Giles told us he isn't coming and we are preserving him for next year. Since after Giles we are done recruiting

In that situation, you probably go after a graduate transfer instead of keeping a fifth year senior that isn't going to receive any playing time.

That'd mean that someone else from the team would have to leave for him to stay. Even if someone else were to leave and Giles went elsewhere, Manning would likely take four years from a high school player or a transfer over a single, fifth year from a player who has had a hard time getting playing time to this point.
