Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

Alondes and Tyree make a compelling case that any/all high level PG with eligibility and looking for a change in scene should consider WF
Money is also quite compelling, but for players not as interested in playing that game I'd imagine you are correct.

Again, neither Alondes or Tyree were in line for any NIL money when they entered the portal. Forbes founds special players that were underutilized at their previous school and turned them into ACC, national player of the week type guys that are now in line for NIL and professional income. We are probably not going to lose top players to big NIL money because Forbes isn’t looking for the guy with the flashiest stats, he looking for the best fit.

100%. Neither Alondes nor Tyree would have been available if it wasn't for the free covid year, though. When the portal shrinks after the covid year flows through, there will be less guys that are both good enough to help us and not seeing big money offers.

Hopefully we are turning the corner on high school recruiting and won’t need the portal as much after this summer. I think Forbes has always seen the portal as a stop gap strategy until high school recruiting was set up. A way to win some games and show kids/parents that Wake Forest was serious about basketball again. I don’t think he ever planned on having to reload every year but recognized the need to at first.

Yeah. Tyree has the same last name he’s always had. But Forbes and Wake gave him the opportunity to showcase his skills and get that Applebees NIL deal.

but it is what it is and that's what happens when you create a system like this with the portal.
Because no player was ever asked to leave or had to transfer down a level before the transfer portal. Just don't look up Miles Overton, Daniel Green, Bill Moto, Madison Jones, Rondale Watson, Anthony Fields, Joe Dukes, Donovan Mitchell, Cam Stanley, Casey Crawford, Anthony Gurley, Todd Hendley, Jeremy Ingram, or AW Hamilton.

Wasn't Rondale that kid from WV who played against awful talent? But some rich guy wanted him on the team or something like that? I can't recall, but that was a weird situation.

Jeremy Ingram is the GOAT from this list. Big Ingram fan. He gave me his practice jersey back on the day.

The huge difference is now you can just bring in a transfer and have him be instantly eligible. So, for example, after year one of Forbes he was able to usher out a bunch of guys to instantly replace them. That is happening way way more then it ever did before.
