Wake Forest Basketball Recruiting: Juke Harris Commits!!

Chicago Bulls fans disagree

meh, apples and oranges

and I say that as a Bulls fan

some guys are pro guys (e.g. Quin Snyder) and some guys are college guys (e.g. Pitino and Calipari)

look at the talent Hoiberg was able to get to go to freaking Ames, Iowa

Even though he supposedly hates recruiting.

Steve Forbes is a good coach. Top 10 winning percentage of all active coaches.

Winston superior to Lincoln in every conceivable way.

Wake academics superior to Nebraska. Whitt is a bright kid from a family that values academics so this actually should matter to him.

Only way to make sense of it is he wants to start from day 1 and has 0 shot to do that at Wake. Even if that’s it he has way better options than Nebraska. They can’t even win in football anymore.

Have you been to Lincoln?

Even if he has, can you imagine walking through what becomes the largest city in Nebraska on gameday (and always has 40% more pople than W-S) and thinking, "Hey, W-S beats this place in every conceivable way." And then the nicest fans in the world beat your football team by 40 points.

This is accurate.

A change of geographical location has been a consistent theme in Whitt's recruitment. Nebraska would fit that criteria. He may like cold and snow as well. Nebraska qualifies. Hoiberg has success as a college coach and Nebraska has a legendary fan base that fills their 15,500 seat arena. It's the only show in town.

If he chooses Nebraska I wish him well. We're in good shape at PG on to the next.

You make Lincoln sound a lot like Blacksburg (other than the legendary fan base), which is a lot closer to Raleigh.

...and his father is a Wake alum?! How dare he! 😁

Look for Wake to struggle for a while recruiting since Manning was made to leave. This new guy is just going to have to rely on kids that hustle and play hard.

waht the hell does this mean, "made to leave"? He is a nice guy that did a terrible job. He should have resigned out of pride. That team had the talent to beat UNC and Duke, but couldnt even go .500. he was a bad coach. He should have left before.

What a bizarre take. Forbes will be new blood and fresh air to Deacon fans.

Forbes may struggle recruiting, but it's not because of the departure of his predecessor. It is because he can't have kids on campus in person. It's really hard to convey his enthusiasm and personality via a phone screen. Likewise, the dedication and enthusiasm of the assistant coaches doesn't come through the same way. We all know Chill bleeds Old Gold and Black.

There is also a difference in showing recruits the facilities via Zoom etc. and having them see it in person. Recruits may feel a little different when they stand in the CP3 locker room, and get to touch their potential locker. Same with the facilities in the Shah Center and the Miller Center. Maybe even run into CP3 or Ish while visiting.

Ish could show what "Wake Forest fast" looks like. CP3 just might have some influence as NBA Players Association President and someone who helped bring Forbes to Wake.

Agree with this. Forbes is a face-to-face relationship guy, a strength that is very difficult to project via Zoom calls (particularly when you are relatively "late to the party" with most top recruits relative to other schools who have been recruiting such players for a year or more).

Given that direct recruit contact is now postponed until at least the beginning of 2021 by the NCAA, have to wonder whether the staff has pared down their 2021 recruiting list to a handful of potential additions, increasing their efforts on establishing relationships with the 2021-22 recruiting class, and anticipating mining the increasingly popular transfer portal this coming spring to fill a couple of roster spots for the 2021-22 season.

In Forbes we trust:thumbsup:
