Wake Forest's own Tommy Elrod caught leaking football information to other teams

Again.... Elrod wasn't fired, he wasn't retained by a new coach. Wake then helped him out afterwards anyway on two jobs and he still stabbed us in the back.

It's pretty clear he treated it like he was fired and that's what matters.

Lots of people are fired. Some justly and some unjustly. The vast majority don't break the fucking law as a result. Stealing proprietary information from an employer can land people in jail in many professions.
This is indefensible.

i guess he was blindsided. power conference revenue sports coaches never get fired. that's one of the most stable jobs there is. imagine if coaches got fired all the time, i guess they'd all be doing stuff like this for good reason, especially if they have young kids. can't believe wake actually fired a coach! nuts!

While criminally he did nothing wrong, Drew Brown's quotes are awful.

that is one horseshit quote, "when you fire someone with young kids" ... holy shit. If they have young kids you don't expect them to risk their day job and their side job over complete and total pettiness.

My exact reaction to the quote as well.

Him having kids should give an employer a greater feeling of security that the dude wouldn't LOSE HIS FUCKING MIND and maliciously leak information to opposing teams. Especially when his two jobs are both directly related to the team he is in charge of covering.

It is beyond all reason.

Are you serious drew? Guy got let go with a coaching change - very very common. Wake sees a loyal son in need and gives him a job he probably didn't deserve. And because he has a family somehow we should have seen this coming? I'd hate to know what the common man with an hourly wage job is capable of.

This dick got bailed out by Wake and repaid us with a knife in the back. You're letting your friendship cloud good judgement. Guy is a loser piece of shit. Maybe he can catch on with the other sludge at Louisville

Agree and you'd think a legal beagle would use the word "fire" properly. Elrod did NOT get "fired"......Geez....

Grobe really ought to make himself disappear for a few weeks

Grobe needs to disappear from football permanently. I actually wanted Clemson to try to pry him away from Wake at one point, but he's really turned out to be one huge bitch. Coming out of retirement to coach a renegade program is bad enough, but the way he's handled things there really puts him squarely on the douchebag list.

No. No, that isn't what matters.

What matters is a guy went fucking kamikaze and blew himself up for no good reason. Nobody could have seen this coming. Stop acting like your 20/20 hindsight makes you smarter than you actually are. STOP.

Elrod was not fired. He was on a one year contract under Grobe. WF honored that contract. When Clawson was hired, he selected his staff as all college coaches do. With no obligation to do so, WF gave Elrod an opportunity that no other Grobe assistant was given: radio analyst and a position with the firm that handles WF's endowment.

At least get the facts right.

Anything from the NCAA on this yet? Or are they too busy coming up with new dumbass reasons to take away kids eligibility?

Methinks Grobe has spent far too much time in the sun, on the links and otherwise, and the last few months in Wacky Waco have not helped his perspective at all. Hope Baylor loses their bowl game so he can end his career on a 7 game losing streak....:rulz:

Also, how do we know Elrod didn't commit a crime? The idiocy of Drew's quotes are astonishing. Can't believe the WSJ would print that garbage.

Yeah why get in touch with some nobody lawyer up the road who is the only one of eight lawyers on the website to share no details on his personal interests or family (presumably because he lives a very sad life)?

Yes, this.

Grobe's success at Wake Forest seems like a lifetime ago. Now he sounds like a senile fool.

I don't think Wake Forest should have helped Elrod with obtaining either of those positions after his coaching contract ended. The best person should have been hired. Hiring a hack former football coach to work at the firm managing Wake's endowment fund would be as irresponsible as hiring your former buddy who has never been a successful head coach throughout his proven unsuccessful career to be Wake Forest men's basketball head coach.
