WaPo’s David Ignatius & Morning Joe say Biden should not run in 2024

Ignatius says today that neither Biden nor Harris should run in 2024. 69% of Dems think he is too old & 77% of the public think he’s too old to be effective after 2024. As for Harris, Ignatius says she is less popular than Biden at only 39.5% approval. She has failed to gain traction even in her own party.

Morning Joe said on Wednesday that every Democrat he has spoken to “privately” believes Biden is too old to run for reelection! Reverend Al “is hearing it as well.”
 
meh...Biden is old and moves slower than he used to, stutters sometimes and has republicans claiming he is a criminal with no legal proof whatsoever. Trump is old, obese, deranged, an insurrectionist, and a criminal with 91 counts and mountains of evidence against him. They are both old but Biden will be old in the white house and Trump will be old in jail.
 
I tend to agree that a younger person should run but I don’t see it happening. Here comes the rematch.
 
We can't just write "Younger Person" on the ballot. The time to elect a younger person was the 2020 primary.
 
Who knows, if Biden gets elected again he might start to do weird things like freeze in the middle of a speech once a week
 
Or even try to to overthrow the US government. Or rape some women. Or bribe allied countries to provide trumped-up charges against a political rivals family members. Or take campaign donation dollars to pay his lawyers. Or suck off white nationalists. Or be a constant embarrassment on the international stage. Or play footsy with Putin and Kim Jong Un. Or show some golfing buddies where we keep our nucs and what the passcodes are.
But yea Biden walks slow and stutters sometimes.
 
The reason Republicans keep harping on Biden's age is because it's the one line of attack they have that seems to work with many people. Their usual tactic of claiming a Democratic President or presidential candidate is a commie socialist radical left-winger simply isn't sticking to Biden (and they know it), and nobody outside of their base (and even some in their own base) seems to care very much about whatever Hunter Biden did, so they've done polls and focus groups and so on and have found that Biden's age is the best angle of attack for them. And typically, they're hammering away at it 24/7 to make it stick.

Those are all features, not bugs, for our republican party !

Does that show a positive uptick for the collective intelligence of our populace then? Because his age is an actual, legitimate concern.
 
I firmly stand in the camp of his age is a problem, and also believe that, since he is the incumbent and has done a pretty solid job, that he should be THE candidate for 2024 unless he says otherwise.

The age angle just isn't going to be that big of a deal to the average voter in my opinion when his opponent is 78 years old (and under four indictments).
 
Remember when an intern died in Morning Joe's Congressional office, and he resigned from politics afterward? Donald Trump thinks that he thinks this should be looked into more.

this is not fully true. he resigned a few months into his term to "spend time with his family" and took up a job at the most high profile law firm in his hometown (where I lived) but he quickly took a TV gig right after. he had won reelection in 2000 but got a lot of exposure on TV during the FL recount and I guess MSNBC threw a bunch of money at him and gave him his first show, Scarborough Country.

Maybe, but I doubt it. The GOP base will oppose Biden no matter what, but Republicans know if they're going to have a chance to win they've got to find something that hurts Biden with people outside their base. Calling him a radical socialist leftist hasn't worked, nor has tying him to Hunter Biden, but they have found that many Americans (probably a large majority) of all political persuasions are tired of geriatrics running the country, and so that's what they're hitting him with. The fact that Trump is only four years younger doesn't matter, nor is Mitch McConnell's very public slide into senility, if they can tie the gerontocracy issue to Biden hand and foot then it will likely increase their chances of winning.
 
I assume because you named Ignatius in your post that he is supposedly one of the great thinkers that all liberals kowtow to, along with Maureen Dowd.
