WF Baseball Off-season Thread

he has a great lower body that generates a lot of torque

Checking in on Brock and JJ today. Looks like Brock played a doubleheader today….one game at 3rd and on at DH….went 0-2 with 5 walks. JJ was 1-4 and got picked off at 1st on his hit.

5 walks in a day is the perfect snapshot of minor league baseball.

Seth Keener made his pro debut on Saturday. Keener pitched a scoreless inning for the White Sox Arizona League team.

Like Wilken, Justin Johnson has been promoted from Rookie League to the Midwest League.

Currently, 4 WF draftees have yet to make their MLB debut:

Rhett Lowder
Teddy McGraw
Sean Sullivan
Tommy Hawke

Hawke should play soon. MLB teams are really careful with pitchers' arms; so, Lowder and Sullivan may sit until 2024 (Sullivan missed some games for WF with an injury). McGraw is still recovering from TJ2.

With the roster limits now too most teams have a lot of their college pitchers unassigned, and just go to complexes to get ready for next year.

Wilken with 1st Wisconsin homer just a little bit ago…rain delay now.

Wilken homer

Update: Didn‘t realize Brewers also drafted a power hitting 3B in 2nd round….Mike Boeve from Nebraska Omaha. He hit 4 homers in his rookie league time and also hit his first Wisconsin homer tonight….at DH tonight while Brock is at 3rd.

Tommy Hawke off to a good start for the Guardians. Three runs in his first two games.

I was browsing around checking in on all the guys and seems Lowder is now the only draftee not activated on a team. Sullivan is listed as active for the Rockies ACL team but with no stats yet.

Looks like Johnson doing pretty well in his first few games at High A.

Brock is as well but had a rough night last night.

Bennett Lee went 3-5 in his first game back in July and is hitless since.

Minacci has now pitched a little over 4 innings and given up 3 runs...on 14 hits which seems absurdly high for so few innings and only 3 runs.

Would have to think they're shutting Lowder down until next year since they haven't gotten him going yet/tried to expedite it to get him to the bigs in a relief role to help the Reds in the playoffs (which they may not even be a part of).
