WF MBB Game 6: South Carolina State Bulldogs - Wednesday - 8:30 pm - ACCN

Where did Keller go???

He was really bad tonight. It just wasn’t his night and I’m glad Forbes didn’t force the issue. How many young guys did [Redacted] and Manning break by running them into the ground?

Tonight seemed like Forbes was trying to build chemistry with different lineups. Most of them finished on a run.

I wouldn’t take a ton away from tonight beyond: 1) the guys were having a great time, 2) Carr and Monsanto were sick and still played solid games (Monsanto was great, I thought), 3) Ituka needs to start for the football Deacs (and flashed some cool stuff), 4) the Brits looked great, 5) no Daivien no problem, and 6) we finally got to see what Bobi is capable of. He has an incredibly high ceiling.

Appleby is nice, too. He’s a great bridge guy, imo. He won’t have to play hero ball for too much longer when Daivien and Jao can flank him.

Ituka looks like a nice piece to have. He plays good D and had a few great takes to the bucket. Feel like he’s a slightly smoother version of Cam.

It’s early, but I like this take. It’ll take awhile for him to adjust to the level of competition (MAAC ball is lolbad), but you can see why Forbes wanted to sign him. Big body, moves his feet well on defense, and he seems to get downhill better than anybody on this team so far.

Better competition will tell the story. A couple of games back we were wondering if marsh would be burried in the bench. Now it looks like the guards leveraging his size at the rim.

Marsh may still be figuring out that he is usually the biggest guy on the court and he needs to act like it. Growing up he was the youngest and smallest boy in his family. Look back at the family portrait from his signing.

It may be taking him some time to mentally adjust to the fact that he can get inside position and dunk just about anytime he wants. And, no longer is a bigger, older brother going to move him or block his shot.

Along with Marsh making adjustments, as noted above, Wake's guards need to realize what he can do. "Paint touches" are getting a whole new meaning.

The announcers last night mentioned that Forbes reaction to Marsh's performance against LMU was that that it was what was expected of him for this season. Matt's lack of early PT may be due to the staff wanting to see what Keller and Bradford could provide at the five. They know what Marsh brings to the table.

Hopefully not his performance against Lasalle!

Marsh will struggle against really quick big guys. Most he will dominate.
