Okay. Couldn't tell and the colors were similar. Still, there's nothing nonfuckedup about those districts.

So, is the 4th District not contiguous? Does it run from the blue 12, up to the 6, and back down into the 2 and not connect in the middle? Seriously?

Nah, that would be CRAZY!

Those are two separate districts. Here is how they look overlapped on Google Maps. Gerrymandering! WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

The worst facet of American elections? That's an easy one....like shooting fish in a barrel. It can be summed up in one word....and it's the same thing that has fucked up sports as well as many other things in this country. And that one word is so obvious that nobody even has to say what it is. Everyone knows without saying.

Somewhere, to someone, this makes sense. Someone who is otherwise reasonable and fairly educated looks at this and says "There. Looks good."

Yeah, because that person knows it is why they keep getting re-elected instead sitting their ass on a street corner wearing a helmet.

Makes perfect sense if you want to overload one district with urban blacks and make 3 others predominately white, rural people.

Political ads. All 3 above are what make the United States special.

Also, where's the 19th Amendment choice?

Gerrymandering. Districts that are safe for one party are the reason the House is so much more extreme and disfunctional than the Senate. When your biggest opponent is your primary challenger, rather than the general election opponent, you get pushed to extremes.

Campaign finance is a problem as well, but much less likely to be fixed. While Citizens United has had a terrible impact, the legal reasoning is sound. If we want to limit expenditures, we will need a constitutional amendement. Good luck with that.

The loser complaining that either the election was fixed, the opponent cheated, not enough people voted, or the people who did vote are too stupid to know what is good for them.

That and gerrymandered districts. Agree that it pushes both sides to the extremes.

Gerrymandering to the extent we have it makes a mockery out of representational goverment. If these inane campaign ads are effective then we are just getting the government we deserve.

I think saying that "not enough people voted" doesn't really fit in that list. And while I do agree the other ones are obnoxious, I do kind of agree with the last one in a handful of races. Not that they're too stupid to know what is good for themselves specifically but too stupid to actually know what they're voting on. Ignorance, including willful ignorance, is a pretty big problem in a democratic republic or democracy IMO.

Maryland. Congratulations! Your congressional district lines are as ugly as your putrid flag.
