The #Buzzout #Wellmanout Billboard: Development Thread

SUPER SERIOUS REPLY: HERE IT COMES??!?!?!

This would all be fine, expect I've been pretty transparent for literally the entire process, outside of the specific billboard design and location (which I mentioned earlier would continue to be kept under wraps). I have what I consider to be valid reasons for keeping those things private. I've been updating regularly with timeframes and setbacks, the last of which happens to be vt's resignation from the #buzzout project as a whole. As I said earlier today, while that is a pretty frustrating blow to our efforts here, we should be able to move forward and get things under control shortly. For those people wondering what "shortly" entails: I'll have a better idea of our ultimate timeframe by the end of week.

Okay. Clearing up some things:

1.) I never mentioned the Strattons to vt one way or the other. I've never spoken to vt about the Strattons, nor do I have any issue with them whatsoever. I did turn down help in actually dealing with the billboard companies, because that is something that I had (and still have) completely under control. I'm not aware of any other help I've been offered, and would be more than happy to accept some if it was offered to me. (Hint: What is holding up the project at this point, as I keep saying, is vt's absence, and so somebody with his skillset [think: web/graphic design] would be of huge assistance.)

2.) The turnaround time for a billboard is (obviously?) very different than the turnaround time for a newspaper ad, and so naturally the newspaper ad seemed to go more smoothly. This was always a considerably bigger project than the newspaper ad, and it always was going to require more coordination and effort. I obviously dropped the ball in that respect, and for that I apologize, but I do reject the idea that I've been anything less than transparent in terms of where we actually stand with the billboard companies. (To wit: We currently have final quotes on the billboard(s) we're going to use, which is why I haven't posted updates since that happened last week.)

3.) At the end of the day, I understand the frustration here, but please realize that I am not a fucking idiot. I have been incredibly liberal with the real life information I've posted on this board. I get that many of the "RSF STOLE OUR FUNDZ" comments are facetious (and also fucking hilarious; Hello/Say Hey/Rubbins have been on their god damned A games), but the implication that I'd be so stupid as to actually make off with a few thousand dollars of generous donations is just awe-inspiring. You assholes have my name (just check that awesome manhunt thread's tag), and I've posted my social networking shit in a few places. Did I fuck up the execution on this project? Yeah, probably, and so mea culpa mea culpa. But I'm also incredibly aware that I have $4000+ of money that isn't mine sitting in a savings account right now, and I wouldn't have taken that sort of risk on if I didn't believe that I could deliver results.

I've posted it a few times in the last week or so, but one more time: Actually take a moment and think about the timeline of this project. Remember that it was a self-described "litmus test for support" at the start. Remember that we were lagging seriously in donations until Bz's return announcement two weeks ago (3/26). Remember that I couldn't get access to the funds until 4/2. Remember-- and this is the most important one-- that right around that time (4/5), when I indicated that we had everything prepped and ready to go in terms of financing, the person arguably most important to the project stepped away from it entirely. I'm not going to blame this on vt, because it is certainly my failure to date, but it is absolutely a huge blow that I'll need to fix for us to get back on track. And I am currently in the process of doing that.

You go boy! When this is over I'm gonna git ya a brand new pair of bright red sox!

Knowing what I know now I wouldn't have given money. Wellman's media day just pissed me off so much.

RSF, can the billboard companies help with the design? I also have a friend that is a really good graphic artist and might help. I don't think we need anything super sexy. Just the words "Why can't Ron wellman admit his biggest mistake?" and a picture of Buzz. I actually think it is a good that we don't use BuzzOut on this one. It needs to look like this came from a different group of fans.

Assuming we can get the graphics, when can we get a billboard up?

Lemme know if Stratt or I can help.

As a minor donor, I second this idea as well.

"Why can't Ron Wellman admit his biggest mistake?" I like that a lot.

Or

"Boycott Wake Forest basketball until Jeff [Redacted] is fired."

Fuck sake.
Is anybody here good at designing websites that is willing to donate some time and effort over the next few days? That's what RSF needs here. That is what #BuzzOut needs in order to shift some focus to Ron Wellman.
This overly-cryptic shit doesn't work. We need people that have the know-how and time to design a new website right now.

The idea in mind is great. Now we need the execution. Who is willing to help pro-bono?

vtwhat stepping down was a blow, but an understood one, so no bridges burned there, but we need to regroup and rely on new people now. The rights to the website domain in question are already owned; now we just need to build said website from the ground up.

fine, here.

Good Christ.

More of you need to study the history of insurgencies, but that would require more of you to, I don't know, not be spoiled fucking douchebags living off of daddy's $$$. [Real talk.}

Dv7 and/or VT...etc have been de facto elected, despite RJ's posts that no one reads anymore. (Because he's RJ, and no one cares besides RJ.) It doesn't matter if you've funded such/posted support/read their posts. Follow. The God damn. Leader. You're #BuzzOut? Good. You have a brain. Now shut up and execute what you're told to execute.

Cordially,

Someone who thinks 90% of you are god damn clowns.

P.S. Simple person version: Want to get rid of Wellman and/or [Redacted]? Shut up and execute. Stop with your god damn pathetic ideas. Shut up. And fucking execute. For fuck's sake.

How bout something like this? Comparing Wellman to Kim Jong-un will definitely get attention and draw the parallels of dictatorship

In case some of you haven't gotten it yet, the location of the billboard is mostly settled, and the design of the billboard will follow the design of a website, and said website has not been designed yet. VT isn't leading this thing anymore, but everyone should probably expect the final outcome of both remaining projects to remain simple, straightforward and fact based - just like firebz.com

Here's one solution and a way to get the ball rolling: The first billboard could go up now with a short and direct message. No big fancy stuff. The second billboard (next fall) could mirror the to-be-designed website. (I understand there are funds for two.)

This idea about the billboard has almost gotten to the same point of hopelessness as Wake Forest Basketball. So happy I only gave money for the print ads.

WAKE'S BASKETBALL PROGRAM IS NOT WELL, MAN!!

STOP SUPPORTING THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR. #BUZZOUT

No worry of accusations of slander or using someone's name when you shouldn't. Play on words, but probably too long.

I like it, but we should also figure out a way to work in a reference to [Redacted] as Hitler and maybe also Hatch as Osama Bin Laden. Just try to ignore THAT, local media! Booyah!

Orrrrrrrrr, you could do it as a theme, keep the Kim Jong-Un billboard, then on the other side of town put up a slightly different billboard:

This one will have a picture of the Osama Bin Laden and the World Trade Center collapsing and be like, "This guy killed 3,000 people. CRAZY."

Then a picture of [Redacted] and the line, "this guy killed the hopes of 3,000 basketball fans. MORE CRAZY."

Media will be all over this. May still be too soon though. If so, could do Hitler and the concentration camps instead.
