Prediction: two more Bz years; Rusty as coach in waiting.

i disagree. we'll all be excited just to see bz leave

Agreed. Then we will wait in nervous anticipation for about a week. If the hire is even half as good as Clawson... it will feel better to all of us given what we just had to put up with for four years.

For what essentially amounts to be for nothing. That's what's frustrating. It's like four years of our basketball fandom were stolen. And for what?

Ron Wellman no longer had to put up with that Italian guy that wouldn't bend to his will. That's a plus!

Different prediction. Season ends, Wellman follows the Grobe plan and meets with [Redacted]. Resignation announced shortly after, lots of appreciation for rebuilding the program and leaving a cupboard full of rising junior talent. Rusty and Battle take positions eventually with other programs, new hire retains Childress.

Wellman won't be at Wake for the next round of football or basketball hires, so this will be his last one. Hopefully he won't fuck it up. At least the Clawson hire gives some hope.

Less likely, since Grobe had to be bought out (You know, like most resignations).

I'm genuinely surprised that some of you guys don't think he's coming back. I mean, he is. You may not like, it might not be right, but they've kept him for three seasons that taken together don't have as many decent wins as this fourth one. Get used to his smiling face.

RW can't afford to lose anymore support which he would if this plan is implemented.

jhmd2000, [Redacted] will not be coming back. This isn't about wins and losses directly. It never really has been. It's about money. It's taken 4 years but the [Redacted] has finally pushed the bottom dollar past the point of no return. The situation is above Ron Wellman's rank at this point. There will be no more wait and see. The [Redacted] Error ends in a month.

jhmd trying to troll and failing at it. Nothing new, really.

Will we get a re-visit and a mea culpa post if you turn out to be incorrect?

Don't let his trolling bother you, he has zero info.

we will feel better if the new hire

- isn't a career loser by record
- doesn't act like a loser in front of cameras

I said "prediction". I never claimed inside info.

I don't see RW reversing four years of spin after the "best" season to date.

You guys really think he's going to "accept the resignations" of both coaches in revenue sports in a single year? Pay four head coaches next year? Why? If "money" was the problem, it's not a new problem.

Codi - first 8.5 ACC games this year: 11.3 points per game, two 20 point games (9 total so far), 3.2 assists per game, 4 wins

CJ - first 9 ACC games last year: 14.9 points per game, 1 20 point game, (3 total to that point, but some 19 pointers that should count), 2.1 assists per game, 3 wins

So yes, offensive production wise I don't think Codi is "way off" CJ's senior year. CJ a couple more points with his range as a shooter, Codi a couple more points as the better passer. So far Codi's simply not as consistent as CJ was, yet his output offensively overall is very similar.

This is why Codi's ceiling is higher than CJ's was in my opinion based on his output this year. I think it's especially likely based on the type of player he is. Codi is much more likely to develop his jump shot than CJ was to improve his quickness and his ability to finish inside and on fast breaks.

CJ was awesome - I just think Codi has it in him to be a better player than CJ overall. I think his play so far this year supports that.

Agree that Codi has more potential.

While CJ was much more efficient in scoring 10.5 PPG as a sophomore than CMM has been in scoring 10.7 so far, CMM's assist-to-turnover ratio is much better.

What is CCM?

True, but as a Sophomore CJ wasn't asked to be the #1 scorer - he was 4th in scoring on that team. Codi's the "7 seconds on the shot clock, just give it to someone and let him work" guy on this team already. I think this year's Codi and last year's CJ is a little more interesting to compare. Either way, if Codi breaks through 35% from deep next year he's going to be really, really good for 2 years.

If he can develop his mid-range game a la Tony Parker he'll be much tougher to guard even if his three ball doesn't improve much in college.
