Press Conference

So he's staying?!?!??!?!!?/ WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's do something really drastic now like form a militia to storm the campus and ransack the AD's office!
 
There is no press conference today. For that matter there is not a press conference scheduled all week as of this point.

A press release later this week remains the most likely scenario.
 
I guess the real question is will the release happen when Wellman is gone or will they wait until he comes back?

Guys, there is no way Wellman is going to have a press conference to announce Bz's firing. No way he would open himself up to questions about how he handled [Redacted]. And wen he has a presser announcing the new coach, he will simply deflect any questions and ask people to focus on the new coach.
 
What was the date Bzd was hired? It will be four years on ??? Are they waiting for that date? I seem to remember that Bzd had a buyout at Colorado that he was responsible for. He may have a provision in his Wake contract that if he is fired before XX date, then Wake is responsible for the Colorado buyout.
 
He was hired April 10. There is no reason to wait this long this time.
 
I said this in the other thread, but it makes sense to say here too after that CC post. Wellman likes to have his ducks lined up. He's not going to stand for an NC State situation where they got blasted for not having a head coach for 1-2 months (twice, right?). If the announcement is made later this week, he either has a coach lined up or he's in a position to begin interviews as soon as teams are eliminated from the tournaments. Does a few days make a difference? No. But Wellman does things his way.

Agree with CC & LK as to the presser. Makes much more sense just to issue a press release. Time it for late tomorrow or early Thu so it gets lost in the news of the NCAA tourney.

My question at this point for 1 of the insiders is if Chairman Ron is going to be a search committee of 1 again with no oversight from the BOT or Hatch. It would appear to be the height of irresponsibility and negligence to permit Chairman Ron to once again have unfettered discretion.

No one will be freaking out if we don't have a coach before end of tourney. It would just be assumed that we were going after someone still in it.
