Basketball Recruiting Megathread 1.0 has run its course

Without question RJ knows horses. As for hoops, this season will answer a lot of questions. So far, just me, Buzz, Chill, Battle, Rusty, Travis, CJ, the Super Seven, Chase, Wellman and a few others on the bandwagon. Plenty of room. I may be wrong, but I think we are going to surprise a lot of people.

Apologies for the optomism. Carry on.[/QUOTE

I respect the optimism and wish I shared it. My question to you is this.... assuming the Buzz/Ron model is successful.... what does that success look like. .500 acc ? NIT? dance every five years when a class comes together? If that's your optimistic view count me and most others here bzz out. Cause thats what I see the bz low ceiling to be.

Wish I knew, but just playing good basketball would be a wonderful start. Honestly, there is no ceiling if you play well. Butler and VCU have been to the Final Four in the last few years, and they didn't do it by trying to out-recruit Kentucky.

In my nightmares, I see Wellman having the same take on our basketball program as Schwabber.

Friends.... should i go ahead and smack this hanging curve ball into next week?

Then why did Travis McKie, one of the few people you mentioned, need to be talked off the ledge to not transfer away from this dumpster fire of a program? Riddle me that. At one point Travis was thinking "[Redacted] goes or I go" -- he was talked down from the ledge, but that thought was in his head and it was made aware to those around the program. How in the bloody hell do you consider that him buying into what is going on with Wake Forest hoops?

Playing good basketball would be a wonderful start? In year 3? Shouldn't that have started in year 1 or maybe even 2?
As for your 2nd sentence... No, they got there by having excellent coaches. We have a giant dickhead that has a career sub-.500 record as a head coach. [Redacted] isn't fit to lick the ball sweat off Smart or Stevens.

Fuck off, Steve Schutt. I don't appreciate your "enthusiasm" for Wake Forest basketball. Because you and your boss have ruined it. You fucking twat.

This is complete horseshit. Of course Coach [Redacted] is fit to lick the ball sweat off of Coaches Smart or Stevens. What type of fucking qualifications do you need to lick ball sweat? The guy does yoga for crying out loud. You don't think he is flexible enough to T-Bag somebody?

This is when your irrationality really shows up. If you don't admit you were wrong and state that Coach [Redacted] is completely capable and fit to lick ball sweat from other, younger, more accomplished, and better coaches, you are no better than Schwabber.

dv7, I swear you waste more precious time on this than anybody on here. It's psychotic. It's the off-season.

It's like you're trying to teach your cat how to give the perfect blow job. You can try and train that cat every day for 10 years, and you are going to be no closer to that perfect blowjob. And the sad part is, you will have wasted 10 years focused on the fucking cat when you could have had hundreds of perfect blowjobs elsewhere.

I think your opine of Bzd and our next year are pretty clear. You should spend more time with your cat, or get a dog or something. Try that.

I don't understand what makes people who always go for the bizarre and stupid allegories tick

Does anyone have any actual knowledge about what our chances are with the Scout T100 names that we are associated with?

Totally inappropriate question for this thread. We are shooting for 1,000 pages for this thread. We could never reach that lofty mark with actual, factual recruiting information. We must therefore use repetition, redundancy and saying the same things over and over to reach our goal.

Wellman is the teacher and Bz is the cat in this analogy.

RE Kam Williams from a MD site:

"Notes: Kameron Williams might as well be Maryland's replacement for Terrell Stoglin: he's an undersized, crafty 2-guard who can fill it. Often compared to likewise undersized-and-crafty Juan Dixon, Williams favors Maryland but will have to work his way into a committable offer.

Major Strengths: Very smart about how he gets his points. Good outside shooter who can heat up fast, but he's not just a sniper. Ala Stoglin, he has a very quick first step and good body control. Consistently puts up gigantic numbers. He's not extraordinarily athletic but despite his size can get up for dunks. A crafty pure scorer.

Needs Improvement: Undersized for the 2 at just 6-2, but he's certainly not a pure point guard, even less so than Stoglin. He needs to improve defensively, both in intensity and skill level. Also needs to work on his ball-handling and passing offensively. Is a bit one-dimensional right now, but you probably know my opinion: you have 13 scholarship players, and you could do a lot worse than giving one to instant offense."

I would not call my knowledge "actual," but this is what I've pieced together:
Ennis- 1%
Newkirk- 0%, not really interested
Lyles- more interest on his end than ours, doesn't really fit into the (alleged) Bzz system of having big guards
Young- looks very unlikely; has a long offer list, and as of January, "Young has taken unofficial visits to West Virginia, Pitt, Rutgers and Seton Hall. The big man, who has no other trips planned, talked about what factors he is looking for in a school..."

We have been recruiting #60 Davon Reed, and probably have a better (although I wouldn't say good) shot at him.

"When rape is inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it."

That's what you're saying. Since Wellman won't fire Bz, no matter how much he blows as a coach, we might as well just accept it.
