2023-2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Thread

Nope. Just saying that Oakland has ZERO chance to beat state. None whatsoever.

State is 50 times better at every position.
KY was a 100 times better at every position. This is college basketball. NC State should win, but there is a reason they play the games.

FWIW, it is true that big underdogs like Oakland that pull a 1st round upset have a poor ATS and SU record in round 2. That said, NC State also pulled a smaller upset in round 1. Also, while NC State lost 14 games this past year, they were all to teams rated in the top 90. NC State was 13-0 against teams rated 100 or worse. Oakland is #130.

State is way better than Kentucky. Let’s get serious.

state is not very good but i do like diarra rebound and i do like watching burns on offense and in interviews

What? KY would be a 4.5 point favorite against NC State if they played tomorrow. All of the guys on State's roster that are "50 times better" than Oakland's players will be playing in Turkey or in The Basketball Tournament in the next few years. KY's players will be in the NBA. Agree that Keatts give sthe Pack a big coaching edge over Cal and KY (which is telling on so many fronts).

Just because the metrics favor Kentucky doesn’t mean they are better. In the NCAAT, the EYE TEST is king. Oakland doesn’t stand a chance.

Really impressed with State last night. They played some salty D (what's that?), and Burns and that dickhead Middlebrooks just dominated. No two ways about it. Burns looked like Shaq mixed with Hakeem out there with his fat ass bumping guys back like 3 feet and then if they stiffened up and leaned too hard in expectation of the bump, he just went around them and made them look silly. Middlebrooks was his usual dirty, cheap shot self. He would really be great on Duke.

df07 goin for the hella reverse jinx
Nah. Being serious. Blowout city. State has actually seen good done defense in the ACC unlike the frauds from Kentucky. Burns will be like fucking E Honda out there. No chance Chandler Bing pops off again.

Totally agree about Middlebrooks, and man, how much we could use a guy just like him.

Took a minute for Burns to figure out the bouncy orange NCAA ball, and the short nets, and then once he got his surroundings set, he dominated.

Oakland has just as good of a chance as St Peter’s did two years ago when they made the elite eight. Anything can happen in March

Oakland is the ultimate boom or bust team (same as BYU). They have played really well a few times this year and been absolutely abysmal a few times. A lot of it just comes down to whether or not Jack hits his threes.

Well we had their good game.

All I know is that if we had played UK instead of Oakland, we would've lost by 20-30 points. Because that always happens when we play UK in the tourney.

It’s a weird dichotomy between CFB and CBB. In the former it’s always assumed and given the benefit of the doubt that the SEC and Big 10 are the best and they almost got away with automatic byes based on reputation alone. In CBB the ACC has the rep but people go out of their way to be like “yeah yeah but THIS year they suck” and then get proven wrong again and again.
