ACA Running Thread

Chris Murphy is really impressive. Wouldn't surprise me if he ran for POTUS in a few years.

He's awesome.

They are voting to pass the bill. It then goes to the House and it's up to the House to decide if they go to committee. And then the House (and the fucking Freedom Caucus) have all the leverage. They can make demands and if the Senate says no, they just pass the bill and send it to Trump, who will sign it immediately.

Right, the Senate passing the bill as-is says they are OK with the bill becoming law as-is.

If Ryan can guarantee that the House won't pass it then the Senate will pass it.

Collins and Murkowski will almost certainly say no again, so I'm guessing it will again pass 50/50 with a Pence tiebreaker.

What is occurring is absolutely shameful and disgusting. The Senate is passing it solely for the purpose of being able to say they passed something. It won't become law, and we are back to square one effectively.

How the hell can you in good conscience vote on a bill to pass that you know must fail in the House because you don't want it to become a law?

Why would it affect your conscience at all if you know it won't become a law?

One question answered, they clearly worked with the CBO on the language, because it JUST meets the threshold for reconciliation in the new CBO score.

So by accepting this score to get the bill to pass in reconciliation they are owning 16 million people losing coverage and 20% premium increases.

In an election year, no less.

Senator Enzi up now. Opens with "Dems have offered no constructive criticism on this bill, why haven't they read it."

You can't make this shit up.

You do realize that Ryan could meet with Senators for five minutes, say, "we've had a conference" and then pass the pass the Senate bill with no changes to piss everyone off.

Ryan cannot be trusted.

Reports that Pence is about to arrive at the Senate. Indicates they have the votes needed (or at least 50).

Won't answer questions about the bill, rambles about some propoganda book. This is starting to look like a filibuster.

Think about how fucked up our government is right now. A bill with huge implications is being passed at midnight after 2 hours of debate, after only being released 2 hours ago, where the people passing the bill don't actually want it to pass, they hope that the house will not pass it but no guarantee especially when find can't get anything better, All while the president cheers like it's a sporting event on Twitter. Definitely the dark bizzaro timeline.

He even voted against the Matthew Shepard Act. Matthew was a constituent of Enzl's and was murdered in Wyoming. He's a heartless piece of shit.
