Ongoing gun violence/injury thread

I can promise you that this coming decision is going to embolden *a lot* of people towards violence, and not just bloodthirsty rednecks.

ANTIFA generally do not carry firearms simply to avoid the criminal implications firearms invite, but at this point in our political culture I have to question that philosophy of remaining unarmed. I don’t think asymmetrical warfare is a reasonable scenario for socialists and anti-fascists.
 
What’s that stupid reductive argument that conservative gun nuts are always using “gun bans won’t ever work because then only criminals will have guns” well…maybe liberals should consider a future where the only people in society being encouraged to carry firearms are cops and little fascist brown shirts like Kyle Rittenhouse.
 
yeah except let's all remember Rittenhouse was armed with a semi automatic rifle, not just a .38 special
 
everything i have read about this trial makes me think Rittenhouse is going to be not guilty. very poorly run

looking like the best they can do is some sort of gun charges (being too young, crossing state lines, etc.).

was trying not to make any decisions and read about the case, but like i said the prosecution is doing a horrible job and judge seems...(whatever)

sad...

Your implication being that the events in Kenosha couldn’t have been more violent with more active shooters and more dead? No. Worse than that scenario in Kenosha.

Juxtaposed with the myriad innocent and uninvolved bystanders who were arrested and abused by the police for simply being near protest areas

Not sure what your point is here. Damaging property and burning shit in response to hundreds of years of legal brutality against Black people still pales in comparison to fascist murder.

Are you saying the protests are worse than the legal murder that prompted the protests and resulting from the protests?

Where did I say it was worse? You're falling into the same bullshit trap jh always tries to set. The "oh you haven't condemned it enough lately..." nonsense. Everything always has to be ranked vs something else for effect in that world.

I'm comfortable saying the murder is way worse and also saying the rioting and destruction of property is disgusting in its own right. And anyone suggesting the solution is more violence is way off into crazy town.
