Why would anyone on the planet care what Paul Finebaum thinks about the location of the ACC headquarters?

Definitely. The C-USA headquarters in Dallas has done wonders for that league.
 
At least B’ham is the most populated city in Alabama. Greensboro is not only a backwater in the ACC footprint, it’s a backwater in the state of North Carolina.

Greensboro is the 3rd largest city in NC and it’s a short day drive from any member institution.

Wrong. And Sedgefield, where the ACC was Forbes, is awesome. As is Grandover. Birmingham is an armpit.
 
It’s not a short day drive from Florida, New York, or Massachusetts, and that’s not the point anyway. It takes twice as long to fly there from anywhere compared to Charlotte because you have to change planes (in Charlotte). There’s also not a local educated and well trained talent base. People go to college to get out of places like Greensboro. Any population growth is due to high school dropouts having four kids. There aren’t enough local Bojangles for those people to work at and they’re not qualified to do anything for a big corporation except vacuum the carpet at The Grandover, which is the tackiest big hotel with second rate golf courses next to the interstate highway I’ve ever visited.
 
Anywhere you fly outta Birmingham you gotta connect in Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston or Dallas anyway

Lol, what’s the third largest city in Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee ? Those are the states that NC borders. The third largest city in any of those states is third rate at best. Greensboro is comparable to Augusta, GA.
 
With the SEC’s increased focus on teams west of the Mississippi they should probably relocate their HQ to Houston
 
The geographic center of the new expanded SEC would be Memphis

the ACC Tournament in Greensboro used to be the crown jewel of college basketball before we started inviting in all these interloper schools from far flung locales
