Yeah, good commit. This probably means Grayson is not going to be a Deac, but could be wrong.

Why not get Grayson also? It is obvious Reynolds is not going to be a good college back. That leaves us with J-Roc if he returns, Martin, and unknown in Wilhite who I have heard nothing about or seen anything from in the scrimmages.

Wouldn't be so sure. DeAndre is looking good the next 3 years but RB is probably the most injury prone position that isn't a lineman. Every good college team that runs a well-balanced offense between the run/pass needs to go into every game with at least 2 reliable, healthy backs to be succesful. Getting Grayson along with this kid would be huge for our running game in the future as these 2 combined with Martin would give us reliable options every game.

Just spent a couple minutes while I'm sobering up to watch the Scout videos of Wortham and Greyson. My drunken take:

Wortham is every bit as fast and big as Greyson, and maybe even faster.

Greyson seems to miss tackles a little better than Wortham.

Quality teams all find ways to use three running backs if they can play- throw in an injury and every team needs 3 good running backs- we have room for Grayson if he wants to come-

It isn't so much of whether Wake could use another RB, it is all about perceived playing time. Expect two top 40 kids at RB to commit to WFU in the same season is kindof tough. The one thing that may be in Wake's favor is that this dude from TX may need a redshirt season to get healthy, so Grayson may not view Dez as a threat to playing time early on.

And I dunno what happened to Orville. Maybe he just needs good blockers, but I wouldn't discount him becoming a Scooby Jackson type contributor for the team.

I want both of them................

I said if he wants to come we have room. If he really likes Wake and is afraid that he can't play at Dez's level we don't need him. Most everyone has Grayson ranked ahead of Dez, he has a better offer list- I know it means nothing but I don't believe Grayson is scared of anyone- and no valid reason we can't sign two high quality backs- we really need to recruit better- why not start here? Don't "expect" it from our track record but it could happen. It may be a sign that our staff does not believe they can sign Grayson- that is easier to believe. I vote for getting them both.

I like this get because I've said all along that we should recruit the skill positions from Texas (QB/RB/WR) look at the play makers that we have that came through Texas. Givens/Price (last year)/Whitlock/Harris (all the potential in the world)...

Watched the video of Wortham and saw some nice swivel-hips but just average speed. Don't know the oppostion shown but his O-line was opening gapping holes for him to cruise thru....did we look at any of those linemen ?

Observations:

Definitely want both big backs and neither is a secret to the other...

Ryan Janvion is doing stellar work as a recruiter.

Both backs are impressed with the size and potential of Hime's recruits. They like him and the attitude of the guys he's bringing in --

Both backs see a slew of young OL at WF. Probably the best 2-3 year period for Grobe.

So these OL's are pretty good coming in?
and what is Janvion exactly doing? (in all seriousness)

G Williams was the only OL to start 12 games in '12. A solid spring with OL guys trying to win jobs will make any back look better than last year. Barnes was a lousey guard, I hope he'll be an avg. center. If not, Helms could step right in. With Rook and Gordon coming off red-shirt year can only help us. Our backs got hit too often at the line or in the backfield. When this changes, all of our backs will look better and Tanner might survive the beating he's been taking.

Expect Ford and Chase to be 100% by July. Souza with 1st year OL under belt. Summers, Goodwin, Intemann, Preble. Barnes as either utility-depth guy or as 2nd to Helms @ C. Also, it is not a stretch to consider Antonio Ford at C if trouble persists.

Smith, Hayworth, Tetlow, Harris, Chambers and the rest will have to be ready for depth chart and possible start opportunities. Will likely have a couple of Frosh as significant contributors. Not the best scenario. Advantage in that several of these guys have the strength levs to do it.

Janvion is a great host and rep for the Deac Footballers

Not doubting any of this, but there are many good hosts and reps for the deac footballers. Was just curious of why Janvion in particular was mentioned above someone like Marshall/Whitlock/Price etc..

The hosts are usually a freshman, unless the recruit is from a upperclassmans hometown or HS. The recruit can relate to what a first year student goes through. Also, a redshirt doesn't have all the meetings, etc, that the guys on the active roster have, freeing him to spend more time with the recruit.
