Katie Couric is posting audio of the "voicemails" from "Lennay" online now. Haven't listened to them yet, but i heard they do sound 100% like a girl and not like Ronnaiah.


And that is why this won't die. Someone is still lying. Smart money would be on Te'o's handlers.
 
Te'o is the one who gave these to Couric. What's their agenda here? Did they do this to help people believe he was being hoaxed? Did they provide these prior to Roaniah's lawyer claiming it was Roaniah on the phone all those nights?

Wilder than an all-white professional football league?

Manti Gay'o would be ridden out of football by August. It would be the quickest fall from grace we've seen in a long time. There were already questions about his skills. Now there are questions about his competency/character. If he was gay, it would be easy to get rid of him. GMs would have plenty of reasons not to draft him.

The first prominent gay NFL player, especially one trying to break into the league, would have to have unquestioned skills and ability and be a great guy to the point that hesitating to draft him based on sexuality would widely viewed as stupid.

Now before you think that not drafting a guy because he's gay is simply homophobic, think about all the crazy reasons guys slip from mild injuries, to weed, to a poor Wonderlic, or controversial statement or whatever. Gay is just another petty reason for a guy to drop a few spots.

This is the internet age. Te'o would be immortal, and it's not really a debate. The first openly-gay professional athlete, that enters a major sports league as such, will be embraced by the media and gay community like no one else. And this kid happens to be a multiple-award-winning first-round talent, at a position and with a skill set where it's hard to see how how he could suddenly be unable to play. The idea that people wouldn't remember him is silly in this era of media saturation. Especially after this bizarre run-up debacle.

I'm almost waiting for some marginal pro athlete to fake being guy, just to snatch all the pulbicity, money, and accolades that would be heaped upon the first openly-gay player in a big four sport.

It's possible for a dude to sound like a woman. There's a McDonald's near Disney World we stop at on the way back home and the dude who works the drive thru sounds so much like a woman that it's a complete freak out to get to the window and see him.
