It's gonna be hung! CP3's jersey finally getting retired March 2

whoa whoa whoa... we have endured the worst 2 1/2 seasons in major college basketball history in order to change our culture in order to distance ourselves from the previous regime(s) that brought in so many bad eggs? timing sure is interesting ronnie. very very interesting.

in all seriousness, i think it's a good move. great representative and well deserving.

What are you all going to say when he implores the crowd to get behind Coach [Redacted]?

Isn't he close to graduating? That might be a factor.

In addition to our shameless Athletic Department being shameless, of course. That inevitable photo op of [Redacted] standing next to CP3 is going to be plastered everywhere in the offseason along with the lukewarm quote "Jeff [Redacted] now sits in the same seat my coach did."

Wait a tick... they are doing on March 2nd. 3/2

CP3, but left in 2.

That's damn cunning of you, Mr. Wellman. Well played.

He was ACC rookie of the year, a 1st team all-american and led a team to the Sweet 16.

I'm probably in the minority, but I dont put much stock into ACC ROY as the other awards you mentioned. We've only had three in our history, Rodney, O'Kelley, and CP3. It appears the vast majority of our retirees were all americans, and that is the barometer for inclusion, but there are a few exceptions.

Granted the list below is a cumulative list of All America honors, but do you think we'll eventually see Jackie Murdock, Frank Johnson, Jeff Teague and AFA have their jersey's retired?

Barry Canty's gonna be pissed. Just like when we retired 14 for Muggsy instead of Frank.

ETA: tsy- that's why Frank's can't be "retired."

Add in a cynical dash of it appearing like a desperate ploy to bring our fans out for a home game so the Athletic Department can point to the great end of season atmosphere in defending keeping shithead around for another year.

We should cut the ceremony off halfway through.

Shit. We've been fooled.

The way I see it, I couldn't imagine another player for Wake Forest wearing the number 3...so I guess I'm cool with retiring it.

I'm not into retiring numbers. I think we should hang jerseys of all the great players we've had. I don't think AFA's jersey should be "retired" but hanging jerseys or putting up banners with well-known players, especially recent ones, would be pretty cool and draw attention to our pre-Buzz years.

What are you all going to say when he implores the crowd to get behind Coach [Redacted]?

i'll take the bait. he says get behind the team and coaches. no bzz specific stuff since he knows the assistants. go wake ra ra great time. probably even take a little time to talk about skip.

some of the tags are really terrible.

It's about the right time. I find it a little creepy retiring a 21-25 year old's jersey no matter how good he was.

This is good timing.

This was not at all creepy. It was obviously well deserved and at the right time.

You think AFA's jersey should be "honored"?

Genius PR!
