Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore at Wake

Was that Springfest? Because I remember driving up on a Wednesday night for that show in Wait Chapel. And don't go hating on Ben Harper!

I loved that bro in high school when I could burn one down with my friends. After a while, he was just a dude with a guitar and bongos singing about world peace and smoking weed. I actually kinda like his newer, bluesier stuff.

if they do it on davis field, the tickets will be for proximity only. you'd be able to hear it all over campus.

i'm trying to remember who all of my spring concerts were... jurassic 5, guster, ben folds, ?

In an effort to clear up any questions or confusion regarding the
WAKEstock concert scheduled for March 22, 2013, Student Union would
like to take this opportunity to address any issues or concerns that
may have arisen following the ticket pre-sale event.

This past Friday (2/1) marked the first time in Student Union history
in over 30 years that a musical entertainment event sold out on its
first day of sales. We are grateful for the positive student response
and excitement that has been generated surrounding this event, and
would like to thank the students for your initiative in purchasing
tickets.

WAKEstock is scheduled to be an outdoor concert on Davis field.
However, because of the unpredictability in weather, it was necessary
to limit ticket sales to the capacity of the rain location, Wait
Chapel (2,100 people). Unfortunately, the Joel Coliseum is unavailable
for booking on the planned event day and is not an option. We hope
that the following points address some of the concerns or questions
that may have arisen

When will we know if we can sell more tickets?
One week prior to the show, the forecast will be assessed. Should the
weather show favorable conditions, ticket sales will resume starting
at the beginning of the week on Monday (3/18) for those who received
vouchers on 2/1/13 and Tuesday (3/19) for all other students. Tickets
will be sold up until the start of the show, per availability. Tickets
sold prior to the day of show will be $20 each, and $30 for those
purchased on the day of show, with the exception of those with
vouchers (see below).

How many more tickets will be available if the concert is outdoors?
2,000 more tickets will be made available should the concert location
be confirmed outdoors. Sales will proceed in similar fashion to that
of the pre-sale, as up to 4 tickets per person will be available for
purchase by students. Student Union has allowed the purchase of up to
four tickets per individual in the past for musical entertainment
events, and prior to the ticket pre-sale made the choice to maintain
this policy for this year’s event.

Vouchers: Upon the Benson Ticket Office selling out of tickets,
students who were currently in line waiting to make a purchase were
give one concert voucher each. This voucher gives these individuals
priority in ticket purchases should the concert be held at its
intended outdoor venue. If the concert is held in its rain location,
unfortunately no more tickets will be sold and the vouchers will be
void. If weather is conducive, there will be one day of sales made
available to only those with vouchers. Campus-wide sales will then
resume one day later. Furthermore, in the event that ticket sales can
only be resumed on the day of show due to the weather’s uncertainty, a
voucher will still be honored at the original $20 ticket price. One
voucher allows the purchase of up to 4 tickets.

Public ticket sales: Students will be given priority in purchasing
tickets in the event of an outdoor concert and thus will determine
whether sales are made available to the public based upon the volume
sold during the week leading up to the show. Further details will be
provided during the week of 3/17-3/23 regarding public ticket sales.

We want to assure you that you, the students, are of our utmost
priority. We appreciate your understanding of the high demand for
tickets and kindly ask that you to continue to respect others and only
purchase the number of tickets needed for personal use so that others
may have an ample opportunity to attend the show in the event that
sales resume. Concert updates on ticket sales will be made available
closer to the day of the concert. Thank you for your patience and stay
tuned!

We had The Roots my freshman year, and that was delayed due to a hurricane coming through, I also remember Jurassic 5 and Guster. Oh, and Lewis Black.

Luls there were maybe 50 people at the Jurassic 5 concert at Wait Chapel. Early in the show, Akil yelled "Mother fuck George Bush" responding to a shirt in the crowd, and people booed.

Lewis Black came on (it was soon after we were Pittsnoggled) and said fuck you to us for ruining his bracket. then he was like "whoops, I just said fuck in a church in the South."

He is a very versatile dude. Blues, rock, reggae, soul, jam band, singer-songerwriter and even gospel can be used to describe his music. For straight rock, I like the album he did with Relentless 7. Also there is a live performance of their Montreal International Jazz Festival show which is pretty damn strong and includes covers of Under Pressure and Hendrix' Red House.

Is Wake a dry campus? Can I just set up lawn chairs in front of the ZSR and pound beers instead of spending $30?

i mean, wouldn't it fall under open container laws of NC?

so no, it's not dry, but you can't just open carry alcohol (that's what camelbacks are for)

You can have open containers at Seize the Quad and other sanctioned events, but if you want to drink openly, you have to do it in some sort of concealed way like can wine or camelback or mixers in plastic bottles.

Anyone know a current student that lives in Davis, facing Davis field? Party in their suite.

wait - I thought deaconslim said it was impossible to get real music talent to perform at wake?

lol my first thought too. this is a great get for wake. right in the niche wheelhouse of acts we should be going for that everyone will love.

Easy now...I just said it wasn't as simple as picking and choosing the best acts that everyone will love every year...which everyone seemed to think, that Wake was just choosing shitty bands and ignoring the masses.

Obviously they did a good job this year...kudos!

Favoriting This Thread.. Goodness... I'm sure the old heads are like wtf... But they have to love the Lyrics to thrift shop!

To the tagger who says "tens of people care" and "who?"

This is Kendrick Lamar. This single went platinum earlier this year. His debut album is spectacular, perhaps the best hip-hop effort of last year.

And the lilywhite Wake Forest crowd probably can't be more excited for these hipster rappers. Also this [song] is fucking awesome.

Thanks. I might be old but f it, this shit is WACK!
