Well. A lot of us owe apologies to Dan Collins. I'm at the top of that list.

He didn't have to write this today & could have waited briefly until the spotlight faded.

He's handled himself like a true champion.

I predict many pages on this thread. Honestly a watershed moment in wake sports history in a way. Someone that matters is finally demanding some public accountability
 
Won't disclose the rest, but this is part of what I sent Dan last night before the game:

I will not deny baiting you into controversy for publicity's sake on the "Return of the Ventilator" post. You have had every reason to hold a grudge against the cause we were (immaturely) trying to help at the time, but you've handled yourself like a true professional ever since.


So, from an amateur commenter and first-time website and print-ad creator, I offer a sincere apology.

Maybe I should have offered an olive-branch way sooner :thumbsup: (the wink is to make it perfectly clear that I do not consider myself a driving force behind this).

Love what you've done here, but never understood the backlash against Collins. His job is to be a beat writer and blog. After the season was always the time to write this.
 
Could have written it after last season or the season before. He admitted that he shilled for two years.

He could have kept shilling but he didn't. Props to him.

Now to convince him that our offense has been at [Redacted] levels under Grobe.

Perhaps our next board fundraiser should be for Dan's season tickets for 13-14 cause he sure as hell won't be getting press credentials.

<obligatory disclaimer - I respect the hell out of Dan for writing this and think it's 100% spot on>

I think it's kinda funny that Dan posted it at like 4:30 on a Friday afternoon. I can almost imagine him posting it, then quickly grabbing his coat and heading for the door. There's a term for making announcements on a Friday afternoon, but I can't remember what it is. Funny though.
 
take the money you were going to spend on basketball tickets and basketball apparel and give it to the boys and girls club or buy yourself a vespa scooter or take your friends out for pho who cares we are finally free from the shackles of fanhood and we can rise up together to form the utopia we all deserve

Amazing work. It sounds like he hit a crossroad of remaining a shill or clearing his conscience, and he chose to keep his integrity. Not sure if there will be backlash to come from this, but I applaud his honesty.
