What is your greatest athletic achievement?

I did the butterfly and freestyle on my swim team but at one meet one of the backstroke swimmers was sick so i stood in for him. I won 1st place in that race.

Scored from midfield in a soccer game for my middle school team. We were already up 5-0, which was why I was in the game at all.

qualified for the state championships in the 100 yard backstroke when i was 14 (my performance actually at states sucked a lot though)

1:44:01 half marathon
3:46:44 full marathon
not really sure which of those i'm more proud of.

thru-hiked the appalachian trail in 4 months. not sure if that's really "athletics" but it was somewhat of a physical challenge (more mental though)

Rode my bike 4,935 miles from Oregon to NC summer after high school.

My HS team won the 1994 N.C. HS soccer championship (beat Page 2-1). Unfortunately we lost in the finals to Charlotte Providence in 1995. I don't know if I have any individual feats, but I'd be surprised if many people in the history of NC soccer received more yellow cards than me. In the three years I played (which would have been somewhere around 70-75 games) I rang up somewhere between 50-60 yellows. I know that my junoir year I had 19 yellows in 26 games, and I recall the other two years being about the same. I played pretty hard back then. Most of the yellows were received on purpose early in games just to set the tone. Only got 1 red during those years though.

Jumping a horse over an oxer that was 5'6" high and 6' wide when I was 14 (definitely was not ready to jump that big).

My backups:

My senior year I cleared 6' in the high jump at the District Meet for 2nd place. I think those were the only points I scored the whole year for the team. I mainly 'ran' to hang with the chicks during practice.

Also, My sophmore year I ran a 17:30 3 mile in track. That isnt very fast for track standards, but it was damn fast for me. I run all the time now, and I still cant believe I ran 3 miles that fast. The 16-17 year old body is an amazing thing.

Are you Lorik Cana?

4-A NC Swimming State Champs! Also, as a kid I scored a basket on Brian Adrian at his basketball camp and got this big ass trophy, which seemed to be the shizz at the time.

Running accomplishments (paltry, esp. compared to the uber-impressive runners we have on this board [wakephan09 FTMFW]):

800 - 2:04 (split in a 4X800)
mile - 4:32
5k - 17:30 (ish...wp09 knows my times better than I do)

I also scored 6 goals in a 3 game soccer tourney back when. 3 the first, 2 the second, 1 in the champs. We crushed that tourney.

Won SC AAA basketball championship my junior year.
All-County TE my senior year.

State semi-finals in Rec league b-ball in 7th grade, I guess. I was the defensive stopper (in other words couldn't score to save my life).

finished 4th in districts in the 800 in high school.

My favorite moment is 8th grade bball we were down by 1 point and the other team is shooting free throws with like 8 seconds left. I'm standing at half court, my teammate gets the rebound and I sprint toward the basket he launches a pass that I grab hit the layup and get fouled with like 4 seconds left. I was amped up, my team was celebrating, people were cheering. I look over at my dad in the stands and stone faced he goes "Make the free throw". I hit the free throw give my dad a look, and we win after the other team missed their desperation heave.
